As an Automatic driver of 30 yrs I am looking to return to the Scenic and buy a Petrol Auto 2011/2012 but can not understand what the EDC (efficient dual clutch) version is?

I have always driven 'proper' automatics ie Torque Converters with a normal auto box P N R D or a CVT. My current Citroen C4 was a mistake as it is not an auto only an auto clutch and I am ridding myself of it now!

I looked at a 2010 2.0L Dynamic which has a normal auto box but there seems to hve been a change about 2011 to this EDC - but this may only be on a diesel, so will I be ok with a petrol?

Have asked a local Renault dealer but they do not seem to undrstand?

Thanks anyone

VW call it a DSG Gearbox (Direct Shift Gearbox). If you Google DSG gearbox you can find lots of information.
A friend of mine has a Golf with a DSG and thinks it's wonderful. He's only ever driven autos since he passed his test about 40 years ago, mostly the conventional types with a torque converter, and this is as good to drive as any of them. They're more fuel efficient too - none of the losses of a torque converter.
