We are both in our late 60s and tomorrow ,for the very first time, we are getting a brand new car !
An 1800 Zafira "Design". With a new dog, 3 grand children and a hobby which demands lots of space, our saloon had become unfit for purpose so we have taken the plunge. Any thoughts on the Zafira , folks?? Chris

Hi grandpajoe, my sister has had hers for 12 years and she drives a lot. Her car has been most reliable and never let her down . The maintanenace has minimal She has been exceptionally pleased with hers and would get another without doubt. Happy motoring !
Has ' been' minimal doh !
Lots of seating permutations so I believe, grandpajoe.
Great car all round.

good choice
I have a one year old Zafira 1.7 eco diesel . I get over 50 mpg even around town.
It has had 7 adults in but it is cramped with that many adults, great with 5 adults and 2 kids. Only drawback is there is not much luggage space with all 7 seats up. Not as versatile as the more modern people carriers as the middle row of seats can not be folded individually and do not fold flat into the floor. But for the money it is unbeatable, you can get one brand new for £11,000.
Very easy to drive , the wheelbase is no longer than the Astra.
I had a Ford Galaxy on hire for 2 weeks when the Zafira was in for repair after an accident ( not my fault the other drivers insurance paid for everything) but even though the Galaxy is bigger I was glad to get the Zafira back. Galaxy was a lot harder to park due to the size and it only did 35mpg against well over 50mpg in the Zafira
Which? , on the other hand, isn't so easily impressed....saying it's overpriced, the diesels have far too many faults and Vauxhall is a lack-lustre manufacturer with poor customer satisfaction.
Sorry...but you did ask!
The Zafira is due for replacement soon so they cheap now, I have just seen our local Vauxhall dealer is selling ex demo Zafira's with 2,000 to 5,000 miles on the clock for £9,999. Mine was £22,000 14 months ago.
Yes, that's the problem with most Vauxhalls...they lose an incredible amount in a very short time. If buying new, you need to get a huge discount for the purchase to make sense.
Ours is a Motability car , we could never afford a new car. In the 40 years until we got this I had never paid over £400 for a car, most were under £100 and several were free! Best was one I was given free , drove for 9 months and sold for £150 can anyone beat that!
Zafira generally very good but as mentioned non flat fold seats poor.Ventliation controls also very poor(worst of any car i had ) and reverse view is utter rubbish- make sure it has parking sensors!
Yes Vauxhalls lose huge amount - but no different from most non german/jap rivals really
Worth hunting out ultra rare panoramic roof
