Finished an overnight Samaritans shift at 4 am, have slept for 6 hours but am still kna**ered. Must be my age, seems to take me a while to recover these days. No rude replies please, remember I have a persecution complex.

Morning ...well afternoon Maggs, what a very worthwhile job you do btw:-)
Well done, maggiebee, my wife used to to be in the Samaritans and she always said it wasn't just the lost sleep but the emotional drain as well that made it hard to recover.
I admire you maggiebee.
my son and his partner work for the homeless over Xmas --very knackering, and quite upsetting at times, but they just want to help others not so fortunate as themselves. This will be their 3 rd Xmas , out all nearly all night. Well done maaggie x
firstly I don't function well on only 6 hours sleep!, secondly the job you do is emotionally exhausting! it is no surprise you are tired, at least you have a lazy sunday to look forward to!
well done maggie - it's not the lack of sleep (I often only get 5 or 6 hours), it's the odd timetable you're keeping.
An admirable job maggie ............you have a gift.
Seems to be the same for us all, it's the mucking about with our body clocks causes teh feelings.
