Bulb renewal on Focus

My nearside sidelight bulb is not working.one manual says turn bulbholder clockwise to remove, another says just pull directly out.I have tried both but it wont budge??

Yes .. the holder is part of the wiring loom .. and a plastic receptacle for the bulb is a bayonet fit into the HL opening.
