Does this have to unscrew using an Allen key, if so what size?

Most likely an Allen key, yes.

Have you looked atthe sump plug to see if it's an allen key and measured it while you were under there?

if i could do that then i wouldnt be posting on here, it looks like an allen key. Im not a mechanic

Good luck with your first oil-change anyhow ... just remember to wear old clothes.

Most Renaults use an 8mm square key not an Allen key

...which would be easily confirmed simply by looking. ;-))

Meganes have a standard 13mm hex.
