About 2 months ago my TV broke down and it was taken away by an TV engineer and every time I enquire as to it`s progress of repair he tells me he can`t get the part to fix it, and has put out a e-mail to other TV engineers hoping they will have one. It broke down, as usual, just out of guarantee, Do you think he is hoping I will say "Scrap it" so he can keep it for spare parts, as I have been told that this occasionally happens with `unscrupulous` TV engineers???

could be that the internal fuse has blown, maybe in a thunderstorm. there is no problem getting fuses but a naughty man might pretend there is!
Ask for it back and don't pay them any money as they have not repaired it, then give it to somebody else to repair!

When you say just out of guarantee, do you mean the one year manufacturers guarantee?
