Does anyone else find whistling irritating? It can also sound creepy. Why do more men whistle than women?

I do find it irritating. I can't even listen to "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" without cringing.
The reason that more men whistle than women could be because of the old proverb, "A whistling woman and a crowing hen are neither fit for God or men." It never stopped me though...irritating or not, I just can't help myself!
sorry, that should be 'nor' men. Never mind I'll just keep whistling!
I don't find it creepy, but it bugs me when people do the attention-seeking whilstling - really loud with lots of little trills and flourishes, or if someone whisltes along to a tune I like on the radio. I always think of Roger Whittaker, and the famous clip on 'Jim'll Fix It' with the little boy who wanted to do 'The Mexican Whistler'. Deonstrating at the time probably looked harmless, but when you see it now, it looks like RW is going to ask the lad to come home and see some puppies! Now that is creepy!
