I don't disagree with this, they are our responsibility. That said, I think it should be the same for foreign prisoners here, they should be shipped off to be the responsibility of their governments.
They are getting off lightly.

When they first arrested they wrote a list of things that they were going to need - can't remember if it was for their family or embassy people. They wanted stuff like hair straighteners and hair products, something for removing leg and underarm hair and other such 'essential' goods. They obviously didn't appreciate the mess that they got themselves into.

Stupid girls.
Of course they were essential, how else would they get to be the girlfriends of the women who ran the biggest gang in gaol ?
with a little bit of luck it will not happen too soon (after the vote) then the Scots can pick up the bill for their one.
Let them walk back or leave them where they are, once here they will probably sell their stories to the UK newspapers and make a profit.
what's it got to do with the Irish Government?

The Irish woman was using one of their passports. Why she won't serve out her sentence in a southern prison isn't altogether clear.
Isn't she from NI?
is everybody in NI eligible for an Irish passport then, sandy?
Question Author
She is. People from here can have 2 passports, UK and Irish. If the Irish government did the deal to have her brought back they should have the responsibility of seeing she does her time in one of their prisons.
considering the cost of prison - the cost of air ticket near a radiator where you can be chained is peanuts...
Svejk - depends where your parents/grandparents are from.

Posts crossed there ^ Most Protestants wouldn't use one but they could if they wanted. They're cheaper, too.
Sandy - surely you mean here some lucky people are allowed ROI passports ?

I cant just fly to Belfast and say Hi can I have an ROI passport please ?
lol, read my mind. ;-)
Sveik - irish nationality issues are in a section by themselves -
un defended border - freedom of travel and so on
and of course the treaty of 1921/2
