I am in the market for a new front door. Mr. Towie wants one of those white PVC things - I on the other hand want a traditional wooden one, varnished.

I do like a bit of colour, so if we did go with a PVC one, I would like a coloured one.

What colour/material is your front door ? (:o)

White, pvc but I really would love a wooden door painted red!!!!!
White UPVC...and I think they are ugly.
We have a wooden door, it is freezing in the winter because you get all the draughts in. It also allows outside noise in which you don't get with PVC.

In my previous house, I had a lovely wooden door, varnished with lovely brass door furniture. Then to my horror, the people who bought our house, painted it white and completely ruined it.
White with brass fittings heavy laminate but grained to look like wood
UPVC, Oak coloured grain effect.
had the choice of red, blue green or white but i@ like the reflected light and we couldn'thave red or blue as we couldn't agree Chelsea or liverpool and the green looked quite dull

Same as my Dad's door, tonyav - a light grain though.
white UPVC thing.

I think it depends on the area you live for a coloured door. When you pass
some houses, they look quite chavvy all different colours next to one another oops!!
Should have had Claret and Blue rowan.
Front door is a solid wood varnished one and the back door a wooden with double-glazed window one. I'm not a pvc person so it has to be wood for me (and unlike pea pod I don't have any draughts or noise)
So is owers TOWIE.
White upvc. Faces into the westerly winds which blow all year round and are usually laced liberally with horizontal rain. Been through two wooden doors that let rain in, under, through, over. Upvc works fine. I don't sit looking at it all day, but it seems OK to me. Matches the rest of the double glazing. I would only swop it for an airlock.
Solid wood door varnished a dark mahogany. Can't stand those white plastic doors !
O and it doesn't let either rain or wind in !
the same mosaic...but I face the east, get a raging wind and the rain in winter, facing the pennines with an open view, no shelter at all.
A boring white PVC one. Given a choice i'd have a lovely pale green one.

last two homes before this had wooden doors without porches both rotted despite regular re varnishing and the wooden threshhold part of the step needed changing every couple of years
I'd like a pale yellow one,

a lemon entry
White PVC with coloured glass, I didn't choose it, it was here when I bought the house. My last house was about 100 years old, and had a lovely wooden door with a stained glass fanlight......................
