I bite my nails, have done since i was a kid. They have bumps and ridges now :(
I also have a habit of pulling at my hair when nervous or anxious.
I read instead of doing the housework.

Bloke at work spits on his hands and rubs it in like handcream, fooking stinks
I'm like you suezy, I bite my nails and twiddle my hair but I also have the awful habit of pulling my hair out if I am very stressed or upset. Apparently it is called trichotillomania.

How do anne and all. x

There was a time when my nails were very nice. Few years ago now, though. :o(

Elvis, that's gross.
I come online for ten minutes and two hours later realise I haven't done anything I should have. Daisy - I can empathise with you I would even find a way to prop up a book while I was washing the dishes. Can't do that now, my eyesight isn't good enough.

I love music and often burst into song. I once worked with a lass who said she couldn't keep working with me as I drove her mad with my singing.
mrs c. i hope you dont " burst into song " outside ?
Jan that's exactly what i do. My mam hates it! Even if i have a pony tail in my hair i still do it!

I restrict it to just at work, home or in the car, anne.

Wouldn't want folk to think I'm bonkers. :o)
I pick the skin at side of nails only when I'm anxious, used to bleed and have scars all way round my thumb.
I bit my nails way through to my late teens and would cut them with a knife often ending up with poisoned fingers which needed to be lanced. When I started work I realised how awful they looked to customers so I wore falsies which allowed my own nails to grow underneath. 20+ years on they are long and healthy and I love to paint them, I now get very upset if any break. Most heard phrase in my house is 'Watch the nails!'.

When my hair was longer I used to bite off my split ends. Can't do it now as it's not quite long enough.
Hi Mrs C.

I used to bite my nails when I was little, but stopped in my late teens.

This thread is turning into the N'N. ( nail 'nonymous) ... Hi, my name's Laura and I'm a.....
Star, that is so sad, does your library have large print books? Or audio books?
I still read as much as possible Daisy, but as you say, need to get books with bigger print. I meant my problem is I can't manage to read at the same time as I am doing the washing up. I still read while I am eating though and always allowed my children to do the same. Mainly because my mother wouldn't allow reading at the table. Sometimes we do the opposite of what our mothers did.

Hiya Lore.

I do wish I could stop biting mine. They're never gonna be nicely manicured though, I have animal cages and hedgehog pens to clean out every day. Fair bu88ers your nails, so it does. :o)
Find it difficult to read heavy books in the bath. Love relaxing with a good book. Not mastered reading while washing up. Definitely read when eating, on a journey, car, bus, train, plane, boat. Even walking. (Some accidents). Thank goodness I no longer ride a bike, or horse. Always have a book in my bag. Never know when ytou might be stranded.
As it's the nail thread (ahem), one tip to stop biting them.....bite all but one nail...let that grow, then bite all but two...and so on....it worked for me and others who've tried it....just think when they grow and you notice how nice they look you don't go back to biting them.
