about 1989 I think, only thru trying to remember when it was on as half hour shows.

According to this the pilot episode was in 1983, and the first proper episode in 1984. I remember the live episode being in 2003, and that was to mark the shows 20th anniversary.

blimey that long/ i know i watched it back then, my daughter was born in 1984 but didn't know it was so long ago, she is 22 this year
