My family (some of) eat like pigs. They use their cutlery properly but don't expect a conversation over dinner, they are way too busy shoveling food in their gobs.
ah....but in my house, it's a given that when people are silent and shovelling in food that it is a glorious success (the food, that is!) x
always got an admonishment from parents cos I'm left handed - 'hold your cutlery correctly as a consideration to those sitting next to you' - always thought, so sorry but I'm left handed -however, did try to hold my cutlery correct(ly) -:)) tp pugthedog
rsvp - do you manage with the spoon?
I'm also left handed and never held my cutlery 'incorrectly'. Got a lot of hassle when younger for the way I held a pen though..
If only that were true, lcg. I've been to restaurants with them that they rave about. Frankly they are pretty crap but they wouldn't know that because they don't chew their food!
What is correct.?
I only get told off when I lick the plate
oh god the pen holding lessons were the bain of my childhood however it worked and i now hold my pen correctly
so common cazz
''i now hold my pen correctly''

Like a knife!?
hold my spoon in my lefthand friedgt
I'm surprised Cazzzz uses a plate; I thought she just ripped the meat from the bone.
no like a pen when you hold a knife you have a straight finger with a pen it is a bent finger
... or bit in to the animal as it was running about...
Did anyone criticise Henry viii table manners?
rsvp snap so much easier otherwise i dribble
Or that, snags :-)
turkey legs come with built in handles, back in the day I would snack on hocks until the cows came home, then I would snack on them.
Anyway, the way anyone holds their cutlery isn't really a deal-breaker is it: your not going to not sit at the same table as them or stop engaging with them... it's just one of the many trivial things that we get unnecessary het up about... a bit like blowing your nose on the curtains ;-p
