I just read a review of a book about Audrey Hepburn.

It suggested that "SO Audrey" was the ultimate compliment.

That's totally true, isn't it?

New little black dress? That's SO Audrey!

Great new haircut? That's VERY Audrey!

Ballet pumps? SO Audrey!

A generous spirit? SO Audrey of you!

Can there be any greater compliment ???

I wonder if ... "SO Jodie" ... will ever be quite the same ?

IMO Audrey Hepburn was a very beautiful lass.
Audrey was grace, elegance and beauty personified. The same cannot be said of Jodie Marsh sadly
Audrey Hepburn was one of the most beautiful women on the planet, not sure would associate Jodie Marsh in the same situation.
Someone told me on here once that something I bought so 'So Audrey'. I took it as a massive compliment. So much that I still remember it when I look at that dress.
Problem might be the AUDREY might compared to the one off Corrie!

PS Agree with all said about Ms Hepburn though
SO Katy Price has a tacky sort of ring to it. And ditto for Jodie (what does she do to be famous anyway?) Nothing needs to be said about Audrey she was just enchanting.

I wonder about "beautiful".

She wasn't classically beautiful ... but she oooooozed style.

Her eyebrows were too bushy. Her eyes were too big. Her shoulders were too boney. Her teeth were a bit pointy.

BUT ...

When she got out of the taxi at the beginning of B at T, she gave the world the most iconic item of clothing EVER ... the LBD.

She had more style than any other actress ever.

And the opening scene to B at T was, without question, the most famous and iconic opening scene from any movie ever made.

It's all about style, and how you carry it off.
Let's just face it the Audrey was the embodiment of class and style
I didn't think much of her abs

Paddy ... absolutely.

I have two great books about Audrey.

One is called "Audrey Style ... which is what it says on the tin.

The other is a great book called ...

"What Would Audrey Do? Timeless Lessons For Living With Grace And Style" ...

which is sort of like a Debrett's, but with reference to Audrey.
The first film I saw with her in it was Roman Holiday with Gregory Peck, I was so taken with her it was my favourite film for ages. She was lovely then, later I thought Brigitte Bardot was, but in a different way of course.
Audrey Hepburn didn't give the world the LBD. That was Coco Chanel back in the 1920's. Audrey's Givenchy number is just the most iconic example but not the first.

Rom Hol is such a lovely film.

It would be the iconic Audrey movie ... were it not for B at T.

Incidentally, Audrey's agent didn't want her to appear in Breakfast At Tiffany's, and refused to discuss it with the producers, who had to contact Audrey directly. They were worried that playing a call girl would be disastrous for Audrey's career.

erin ...

That's a fair point.

Can I accept that the LBD was "around" before Audrey, and say that the "springboard moment" was Breakfast At Tiffany's?
Love both those films, I also have a very soft spot for Charade - imagine
the divine Cary Grant and Audrey............................
Question Author
I wonder if there's a boxed set of complete Audrey movies?
you wouldn't really guess from B at T that she was a call girl, so they may have had a point.

Didn't she start out in Ealing comedies?

Incidentally... I don't think it's possible to have eyes that are too big. I think your eyes stay the same size through life. But babies with the biggest ones are more likely to call up the protective instinct in adults, so it's very useful evolution-wise to have big eyes.
I've seen one somewhere - not sure where. might have been Borders (alas now defunct!) or HMV you could always try Amazon........
