Morning all, another cold start. Patio man comes today if its not too cold for the cement. Thank you for all your comments, i actually slept well without alcohol last night for there first time in weeks. I am sure that talking about it has helped.
I never got into Downton till I watched the christmas one...I might have to but the vids as I want to catch up now.
I am reading Death Comes to Pemberly by PD James atm, she has written a murder novel using the Pride and Prejudice characters. It starts slow but I think its really good once you get into it. The trouble with reading on kindle is how easy it is to buy books, they sort of just slip out of Amazon without thinking about the cost!!!
Morning all, very sunny but chilly here. I just feel so down in the dumps. And if either sister needs me, I'll fly over to stay and help.

Yes shaney, I think people have been in to sort out his new sleeping arrangements, but she has no idea how she can raise him from the bed as he isn't strong enough yet and she can't do it. She is 70 this year and quite capable in most things. She is a bit reluctant to give them all keys to the house, but as they explained, they(whoever they are) can turn up at any time, and she can leave him if she needs to pop out knowing that they can attend to him.

Not much I can do at the moment.

Hope you are all OK. Woofy hope you are sleeping OK, and Robi I hope your cowd and headaches are better, and shaney you have a rest now they have gone, jude and jno and lottie have a good day! x
Patio man (men) have arrived. Dogs barked like crazy for all of a minute and are now asleep again...so much for guarding me ha! Can see me not getting much done today as I will have to keep my guard dogs safe....
Neti keep your chin up. Has your sis expressed her worry to whoever is planning your BiL's discharge? if care is being arranged then someone must be sorting stuff. There are various lifting options depending on various factors, sliding sheets, poles and bars, a hoist...really easy to use.
I have said this before but a list is a handy thing. I have had discharge panic myself and it was loads easier for me so i do understand....

<squeak.... squeak>.... Good morning listeners...sub-zero again but lovely and sunny....the squeaking isn't the tea trolley, it's my hips :o)
My head's cleared a bit these past 2 or 3 days thanks neti...it could be the weather or the new meds kicking in.
Good luck to your sister, I hope she has better experience with social workers than I or people I know have had. Tell her she might have to 'speak up' if she doesn't get as much help as she needs. You can have a key safe put on an outside wall in a discreet place and only designated carers are given the code so they can access the house.

Glad you slept woofy...hope they get your patio done, it won't be long before you can sit out on it...<says she, optimistically :o)>
Good morning Robi, Don't know about where you are but the air is lovely today now the sun is up. Flaming freezing but fresher than it has been in days.
We bought a new patio set last year, teak, the plan was to have it outdoors in summer and indoors in the non kitchen bit of the kitchen in winter. last summer was so orrid we never moved it outside so I am looking forward to coffee al fresco this year weather permitting. The table has a parasol hole so I might just get a huge one and sit out there in the rain too...
We used to have a tent and sleep out in the garden odd nights. It wasn't very comfortable but lovely to lie out there and hear the frogs and the owls. I would do it again but I don't think I'd get up off the ground now!
Question Author
yes woofy, it's very fresh but the breeze has got up and it cuts right through to your libby.
I remember oiling my bench twice last year ...and sitting on it probably once. The dismantled table didn't come out of the shed....As for sleeping on the ground....?! I'd have to be very, very, very drunk, haha. I may well be an earth sign but that doesn't mean I want to get that intimate with it. :o)

Have you recovered shaney? ....see your guests were a bit peckish...

Dogs have decided that the patio men are dull and boring. The builders sand under the patio is lovely for peeing on though (don't tell the patio men, although I bet plenty of pee drained through the blocks anyway.) They(PM) have been coming and going getting rid of the old blocks so we go out for pee breaks(dogs not me) and snuffling while they are elsewhere. Injured arm is benefitting from the rest day. I lugged too many bags of shredding and pulled a muscle in my right arm so am giving it a good rest and not doing anything strenuous today (my excuse)
patio men have vanished and don't seem to be returning today. I am not especially bovvered as it has been much easier on the dogs with them coming and going and its a fixed price deal. I have a buyer for DH's motorbike coming tonight. He is a keen biker and a mariner so hopefully he will buy it as it will be going to a good home to be used and loved.
Am on hija´s computer, wow it is lovely! Nephew has called and said his cancer is operable and curable, relief, although one wonders if he is not just saying this for his mum´s sake! B-i-law has stopped pooing since they stopped giving him laxatives (!) and he´s raring to get home, a bit sad as he thought he was going today! and yes robi I told her about the wall safe for keys and she already has one installed since yesterday, so many thanks and any others hints you can all give me to pass on will be appreciated.

The cancer people have called at my house and collected a load of good stuff that I have donated for the cancer fair.

Don´t want to stop typing on here, it is wonderful, wonders to self, if self can afford one! Self doubts it!

Laters x
Hello folks
Lol yes the cupboard was bare Robinia so had to go out and shop for a few items and boy oh boy was it cold .
Beautiful day though but the east wind blasting up the lokes was enough to cut you in two .Proper string vest and libby weather .
We have a teak table and chairs for the garden with a brolly hole Woofy but it's a faff oiling it every year .We've just let it weather . It looks a bit pale and interesting now .I always mean to cover it for the winter but never get round to it .I just want a hot summer ....I live in hope .One of those when it's hot when you get up and can have your early morning cuppa in the garden .A couple of weeks of that will do for me .
Hope you are all OK . Midsomer tonight .
Keep warm and have a nice evening ..see you later .
There is all sorts help and various things they can do Neti . I'm sure I read on here somewhere that someone had a whole new bathroom and stair lift fitted from Social Services .One of these bathrooms where you sit under a shower Social Services are the people to get in touch with .They'll come and have a look and assess what can be done .Grab rails ,ramps for wheelchairs and all that sort of thing .
Hi shaney, yes she is thinking of having another downstairs bedroom and bathroom built on for him, but they are not poor so maybe wouldn't to like to ask social services, still I'll tell her. Keeps me happy cos then I can sleep with her as I am so frightened of spiders just cannot be on my own over there. I feel so much happier, felt really down this am.

I've lost nearly 4 kilos, can't believe it, it's all this zumba ing and walking, must slim down the ole boobies, they are an embarrassment!!
I wish I could Zumba .They have classes at the library .And I would love to walk a good way every day but my hips won't let me .
My brother asked me to go out with them today ,but they were going to go to .....wait for it .....
Aldi ,Lidl;Morrisons ,a garden centre and the fish market and then on to Tescos .
I'd have been on me knees by the time we got to Lidl. Hahaa.

Good news for your nephew btw.
Off to do some grub ..see you later x
I can't actually zumba , I try and if I get the footwork right then the arms are flailing about in a most frightening manner, but I enjoy it.
Hi Biddyfriends. Neti I really feel for you so far away from your family. I do hope your Bil comes home soon and gets settled. I think your sister is entitled to ask the social services for help. I don't think that she should worry about asking them at all.
I have had to go to town to get the experts at the Orange shop to set up my new phone for me. It's a Samsung Galaxy Ace and I love it. Well i will when I can work it properly. I'm getting there gradually like I did with my last one.
Then this afternoon Steady came round and sorted out my wireless connection for it. apparently my router was open to all living around me and I didn't know but he has now made it protected for me. So my new phone is connected and I wont get charged when I use it at home.
Shaney I'm going to watch Midsomer tonight as well. I haven't seen it for a while and I'm looking forward to it. Are you still into UC? It's getting towards the end of the series now I think.
Hope your patio gets finished soon Woofy I'm thinking of having a new bathroom as the one I had done about 4 years ago is 'orrible. I thought the men that did it were going to do a good job but on reflection they were cowboys and I've never been happy with it. B & Q did a great job of my kitchen right from the planning to the fitting etc. and they say they do the same with bathrooms and mine is so small I can't see it costing a great deal.
I hope everybody's aches and pains diminish as much as possible. I am still being treated for my nether regions and have to go and see my GP in 10 days having now got some cream instead of Bullets.

Hope you all have a good night expecially you Woofy - hope your nights are getting easier.
See yer later 'gater(s)
Snap jude I also have a Galaxy Ace, along with HTC Wildfire and iphone 3gs. I love my Galaxy although it is only 2g not 3g, and you will find that using your wifi free at home is great but using the wifi uses a load of battery for some reason. You will have to download viber and we can talk and message for free!! My old vodafone sim still works on wifi places even though I haven't paid anything since October! My Galaxy is unlocked so can use it on spanish sim, or English sim, although I'll probably buy another phone when in England!

Don't worry about me being far from family, I offered again today to fly over, but was refused, have been replaced by an outside key safe! so am not needed. :0(
You sit down very carefully jude, y'hear?
Wow Neti that's good news but dopey nurse syndrome or what? Good news about your nephew too. I doubt he'd be covering up for his Mum, loving as that would be because Mums tend to know these things.
Not to rain on the parade but BiL should keep an eye on his bowels in case he gets reflex constipation. A decent fruit and veg diet should keep him okay.
I have already decide to let the furniture weather. I like the grey look
Thanks woofy, I'll warn sis re the bowels!
Well the motorbike is sold. Nice man, just about glowing, he really wanted this model and didn't think he could afford it. His bike is a small racer and his wife won't go on the back as its not comfortable. This one has a very comfortable pillion seat with a padded back rest, she's gonna love it. Every time I went out to the garage it felt sad, like seeing an eagle in a cage (I know boo hoo) anyway its another load off my mind as the tax and Mot run out in march.
Shaney, I couldn't have done that marathon either, my knee would have given up, also my interest I am afraid. One supermarket is my limit although i would have enjoyed the garden centre and fish market.
Sending some good nethers thoughts
Where is Robi? should we send out St Bernards?
