This may sound a daft question but do all you Abers say railway station or train station ??
On our local radio, they are always mentioning about the local train station and It may be just me but I think it sounds a bit babyish to say `train station`, perhaps because Im thinking of chu chu train.

I have always said ` railway station` as everyone knows that there are trains there, dont they ?

Just "The Station" here, we don't have a lot of alternatives, everyone knows what you mean, lol

I've never really thought about it - until now!
If it's the network being talked about, then I say railway but otherwise it's train station

yes but if you just said The station, we also have a bus station and a coach station plus a pub called The Station
Not in my town. :-)
'The Station'

'Bus Terminal'

'Taxi rank'
If you say "Parkway" or "Temple Meads" in Bristol they know exactly what you mean.
I say "railway station" as there often *aren't* trains there, much like the way SWT call us "customers" as opposed to passengers, because a lot of the time we're *not* passengers ;-)
very good answerprancer and so true
I always say train station, as it is easier to say, and most people here do the same.
I mostly use the name of the station followed by 'station'
To further complicate things, I say 'railroad station'.
Stewey ..or maybe even railroad depot
train station.
Correct me if I am incorrect but trains run on railroad tracks not train tracks, the correct saying should be "railway station". A train is just the engine and carriages, not the infrastructure that they run on or operate through.
Cheers.
Not given it much thought before, but I usually say railway station, as do my family.
....railway sleepers too.
The engine is a locomotive, what it pulls is the train, and they run on the permanent way, or tracks.

Love Smudge's avatar, btw!
cracker joke
what do you call a train loaded with toffees?

a chu chu train
ooh permanent way..proper railway talk lol
