according to an article on the news yesterday a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children spend £1.200 per month on shopping and now says the older boys will have to go without "proper" coke, some people dont even earn that amount let alone spend it on shopping, is it just ridiculous or is that just my thoughts?

I suppose that if the 3 kids drink nothing but coke then that would cost a bit. And if theres alcohol then thatwould add a lot.

Mr CRX is a really gannet when it comes to food, but even on a big shop with all the toiletries, washing powders etc its £160 at most. average on food alone would be £80-100 for the week for us.
Depends on the age of the kids as well. 5 lot's of deodarants and hair gels....etc
Yup - I suppose if you take all those things into account - household, toiletries, alcohol, pet food etc, then it could well total up to £1200. God knows we used to spend enough when there were 5 of us in a house.
I spend around £250 - 300 per month on food, toilteries etc. and thats just me and Lt Tiggs. I don't buy alcohol of ciggies and I very rarely get a takeaway in these days.

but you dont buy the same toiletries every month do you, i mean a tube of hair gel lasts longer than a month, i think its disgusting
Tube of hair gel doesn't last a month...not my sons anyway.

Why would you find it disgusting what other people spend their money on?
My toiletries last for months. Oh and I forgot about my 2 cats. I usually get them things like Iams, Purina One, Whiskas and Felix pouches which can all be very costly but I always look out for when they do deals.

ummmm mainly because they were moaning about the rate of inflation and she would have to cut down, nobody in their right mind needs to spend that amount a month on shopping dont care what anyone says
Maybe that's their indulgence in life and they don't go out/cinema/clothes shopping etc...
Even if i could afford it, I wouldnt spend £1200 a month on food...
Question Author
neither do i and if i had the money i still wouldnt spend that amount
I would....
If they are drinking"proper" coke they are probably buying all sorts of other junk for their little darlings. It is not hard to spend that amount if there are 5 of you. I spend frugally and still manage to go nearly £400 for the two of us.
I spend less than this on my entire household bills - food, rent, petrol, insurance (home and car), gas, electricity, cable (tv, phone and broadband), 2 mobiles, council tax and a stonking bank loan! How on earth can they manage to spend this amount????
I agree karenmac, my household bills come to less than a quarter of the amount they spend on food!
I spend £30-£35 per week for 2 people. But we do have 4 dogs to feed so that pushes our bill up a little bit.
