East Enders bias....

... what a farce. Not saying EE isn't good at times and has it's good actors - Lacey Turner is indeed a little cracker of an actress and the whole Syed/Christian/Masoon gay storyline was fantastically acted.

But - they almost swooped the awards and I don't think many of them were justified. How could they not award Danny Miller an award for his portrayal of the tortured gay Aaron? His duet with the character of Paddy was fantastic - acting at it's best. Even Danny Miller himself raised his eyes every time yet another award went to EE.

I have felt for years the bias has been towards EE - but last night, more so than ever. Corrie beats it hands down, Emmerdale has had some fantastic acting this year, and even Hollyoaks deserves more than it ever gets compared to EE,

Did Blanche get a posthumous award?

She got a mention and a standing ovation - it was quite moving. Betty Driver (Turpin) got the long achievement award. Both deserved applause.
I don't watch Corrie...
I completely agree with you salla. What I couldn't work out was granted, if EE has more viewers votes for Best Soap then fair enough, but there is a panel of "Experts" who award some of the prizes so the likes of Danny Miller who was fantastic Should have won something. Very unfair.
I aggree with salla tbh.
I only flicked onto it between ad breaks from watching 3 in a Bed on channel 4 - but did notice everytime Eastenders or thier actors received an award, the camera was in the audience and just as another soap's actor/actress began to pull a face, the camera quickly moved.......so predictable.... ha ha
I really felt for Danny Miller, I was so annoyed he didn't get an award, and yes I did notice his looks when eastenders won everytime.

I was choked when the scene was shown from the episode where he had attacked paddy and had returned to the house, he was distraught and a mass of emotions and whats more it was believable and made you feel so much for the character, That is acting at its best..He deserved an award last night.
I didn't agree with Scott Maslen getting the best actor gong over Danny Miller, granted yeah he is good but Danny and the guy who plays Masood were better in my opinion.

I feel that Emmerdale always gets short changed when it comes to the awards ceremonies which isn't right..Surely it is annoying other actors on the show and not just Danny Miller that they and the show are not scooping up the awards.
I agree Suzy, I don't think Scott Maslen deserved that award.
Den..I didn't ,mind looking at him though haha...
Would still prefered to have seen Danny up on the stage.
Emmerdale suffers as a result of its early time slot and lower audience figures, so even for the experts awarding the honours to the big two EE and Corrie is bigger news... Some of Emmerdales story lines have been really good this year, not a soap fan but have semi folloed it, Ashley and Sally thestalker was good too, and the Viv Bob double act deserve an award or a spin offseries

The Danny and Paddy storyline has been fantastically real and touching. Great great acting - and I cannot believe whoever the judges are have overlooked this. I'd rather Marc Elliott (Syed) had won it than Scott Marslen.

For years now there seems to have been bias towards EE. I know soap awards are lighthearted and are probably not taken too seriously, but the standard of script writing and acting soaps is of a generally excellent standard - to overlook Danny Miller is a travesty.
Agree with rowan witch about the Ashley/Sally thing I think she should have won the baddie award as she was much scarier than Archie Mitchell and so well acted
Well said Salla :)
Sally was a way better baddie than Archie Mitchell..he was just too sadistic haha
I agree with the criticisms. Emmerdale and Corrie beat EE hands down. Emmerdale lately, has been first class. Acting, storylines, characters, miles ahead of anything in the dreary cliche'd EE. Can't say any more than has already been said about Danny Miller.and other players in the current story. Someone has mentioned Emmerdale's
time-slot being a problem. I disagree . Location is the problem because as everyone north of Watford knows, to the broadcasters, London is England, London is the centre of the universe, and no other place exists. How else to explain why quality programmes like Corrie and Emmerdale are consistently bypassed by the urban yokels who vote for the awful EE. Who are these people anyway ? What's in it for them ? How does the voting work ?
taddie,I agree with everything you said.
Absolutely agree salla, Danny Miller has been absolutley amazing this year, he's really grown and as has been said the scenes with Paddy has been great tv, EE has gone so downhill I barely watch it, although agree the gay storyline in EE has been well done when I have seen it, it's nowhere near on a par with Emmerdale. Aaron's character has almost brought me to tears at times and i'm usually soft!
Hi sallabananas. Great avatar btw.I couldnt agree with you more. I never watch Eastenders nowadays as it's too far fetched for my liking. My fave is Emmerdale and I can't believe they didn't win more awards - it's a fix! I loved the wee Aaron boy's face each time they awarded Easties, it was a picture.
Evening all. I don't think Scott Maslen is a good actor - eye candy yes - Laurence Olivier no
Hi lardhelmet, I don't think he's good looking either, i'd have given the sexiest actor to Cain or Carl...
Did anyone else notice how bloody miserable Bradley and Stacey's actors looked?? You'd have thought it was a hardship winning three awards!!!
