Last week, I helped somebody carry some heavy stuff around. Since then, I have been unable to lift my left arm above shoulder level without great difficulty. It's been a week, and I was wondering how long it will roughly take for my arm to get back to normal, as it's extremely frustrating?

how long to get better depends on what you have done to it. if you can afford the charge, visit a private sports physio for assessment, if not then pop to the GP
You have probably strained/pulled a muscle connected with the rotator cuff, which allows circular movements of the shoulder joint. How do I know this? Because I did the same thing with the same result! I don't want to worry you, but despite 8 visits to a physio, it eventually took 6 months to regain full movement.
