I have just seen on the news that a footballer by the name of Rinaldo is to be transferred(to Real Madrid?)
They stated that "at the moment Rinaldo earns 200,000 PER WEEK"(Just WHAT will he earn in Spain then?)
This throws the row over MP's expenses, and indeed even Sir Fred's pension plan into the shade.
I confidently expect AB Football fans to shoot me down and tell me he is worth every penny.
However,I shall stick to my guns and declare that it is OBSCENE!

It is Christiano Ronaldo who has just transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid for a ridiculous amount of money.
My dad was shocked at footballers wages in the 1970s!!! But he used to say that their careers could be over overnight with a serious injury, and they might only have a few years at that level of earnings. but now with all the other earnings on top of their WAGES, the super star players make enough to see them thru their lives i guess
Mr V:

Things have changed ever so slightly since your heroes such as Stan Matthews, Dixie Dean and Tom Finney graced many a football field. And for a fraction of what today's prima donnas like Ronaldo "earn"!
I once met a girl called Dixie Dean (true) at the home of such staunch Rangers supporters their grass was blue (true). Couldnae make it up TBH lol.
C4 News have obtained film of the prophet Mohammed (pcpm) with his child bride Ayisha. This finally puts to bed the controversy about sex with children, which is clearly ok.

^^ oops what can i say Guv -wrong person wrong thread whiff lol
Manchester City made a hasty retreat from their world record attempt to sign Kaka last night when the Brazil international informed Milan he had no interest in swapping San Siro for Eastlands. City had proposed a 91m deal to the Italian club and a weekly wage of 500,000 for the former World Footballer of the Year.

200,000 a week peanuts ?

Economists have long studied (since the early 1980's at least) what has come to be known as the "market for superstars" or the "winner-take-all" phenomenon; ie why do the very best CEOs, actors, directors, musicians, athletes, etc. take the lion's share of the salary in an industry. There is an interesting take on it here:

Man City have offered John Terry 300,000 a week
