Why does everyone hate Andy Murray? Is it English racism rearing its ugly head again? They don't like black people, they don't like Scots, is there anyone they do like?

well we don't like you: scumbag
I would like him a bit more if he wasn't so miserable looking everytime he gets interviewed.
I don't dislike Murray per se.....I'm just not keen on his attitude but do admire his application. I really admired Arthur Ashe and loved to watch him.....so there's your token black person. There are many scots to admire but I don't find Murray one of them so why not quit stirring.....
The Scottish aren't a race - so no, it is not racism, because it can't<?i> be racism.

Of course it might be something to do with the fact that he said (paraphrasing) that he likes it when the English lose.

Just a guess.

miss-print, are you still wearing Lippy's wig? Nice disguise, you sick sad piece of vermin.
I can never get that < > rubbish right. Why can't we have a tool bar like we used to have?

The only part that was meant to be in italics was 'can't'.
well that's nice news.......I thought this was a serious discussion......
"The Scottish aren't a race" Duh ???????

Were Murray English, they'd love him. Yes, it is to do with the fact that he's a Scot. They don't like it but can't do anything about it because he's the only possibility there is in the UK of winning ANY tennis tournament let alone Wimblenod.
I like Andy Murray very much. He's grown up a lot over the past year. He's not miserable when interviewed, he's serious and dedicated. By the way, his remark about the English was a joke and wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Pity some people can't see that. I hope it's a Federer v Murray final.
He was asked in an interview who he would be supporting in the football European Cup as Scotland weren't in it. He said "anyone England are playing against". Didn't really endear himself to the English fans there did he?
Hi DS, he doesn't have a lot of charisma does he, I admire him for his talent, don't care if he comes from Mars, but he has got to be an interviewers nightmare,I, too liked Arthur Ashe, one of the games gentlemen, I liked your countryman Borg, he was exiting to watch, Murray was a bit wet behind the ears when he made that gaffe about supporting any team that beats England, I'm sure if he could have only thought it and not said it infront of millions, he would of, need someone like owld Maxi Clifford to reign him in ,lol
I don't really like him I don't know why though.

I am Scottish, born here and live here etc...

I don't like Sean Connery or Billy Connolly either now that I come to think of it.

hmmm judged on a comment he made at age 17?
Didn't we all say daft things then, and some of us still, lol?
Isn't hating him for that worse than the comment he made in the first place?
well said chelle, hate is a horrible word and shouldn't be used in any context
I like Andy Murray a lot, I think he has coped very well with the disadvantages of being Scottish and potentially impossible to understand. He manages to speak in a way that most English viewers can at least drift along with and he never says Och aye laddie wee Jock the noo punch yer wee face in the noo.
so News.......where do you go with your all-encompassing comment about the English being racist. I consider myself British, then English, then Yorkshire......my Scottish father is quite happy about this.....
lol@whiffs
Like it or not mate, the Scottish aren't a race. They are a body of people who are Scottish - by no stretch of the definition of race are they a race.

Therefore, the English are not being racist to Andy Murray because he is a Scot.

To think such is to misunderstand what a 'race' is.

This isn't hard to understand - although, sadly, many people do.
The main reason is I think that in common with most sweaties they support anyone but England at anything and Murray famously said so. So forgive us for categorising him with the vast majority of chip on shoulder sweaties who are gutted that they just missed out on being English, envy is an ugly emotion.
He is very successful and could break our 80 year duck of not winning.

We hate that. We prefer no hopers like Henman, Eddie the Eagle, Frank Bruno et al.
