site optimisation for links

Does any one know how easy it would be to optimise your own links to my own web site for better web results, ie,  so that my web page appears at the top end of site displays.

Pardon? Search engines are sorted by the number of sites the Google droids find that link back to your site. A paid service to do this it probably a sham, if you want to increase your ranking in search engines put links to your site on guestbooks, forums, whatever for google to find.
