If someone is like a week pregnant,...can they still go dancing in clubs, can she do situps, can she get a massage???  In other words, what should be changed, even in the first week of a possible pregnancy??  Can I go to my boxing class???

Many women carry on with their normal activities and may not realise they are pregnant for some weeks, and there is no evidence they or their baby suffer for it... I read this observation in the book "What to expect when you are expecting".
Yes. you can do all of those things. Later in pregnancy you shouldn't do situps because it could cause muscle separation, but early in pregnancy the only things to avoid, as far as I know, would be alcohol, drugs, smoking, and any foods you choose to avoid.

Anyone pregnant should avoid all essential oils except lavendar (I think) during pregnancy because some have the property of bringing on a miscarriage. It's best just to use the plain carrier oil e.g. almond oil. Personally I wouldn't advise sit ups or high impact exercise but if you're certain your body is used to the activities they say you can usually continue. Dancing in clubs is OK but you have to be careful about getting shoved about and the smoke isn't good for the baby. Plus you should avoid getting overheated - saunas, hot baths and jacuzzis are definite no-no's.

Regardless of the stage of pregnancy I'd certainly give boxing class a miss, just to be on the safe side.

If you regulalry go to boxing class and you are careful then there is NO reason at all why you should not continue.

It will of course be at the discretion of the club and anyone brave enough to take you on in the ring ... hormones + being able to throw punches = not a pretty sigh hahaha.

< P>A friend of mine was still out riding an show jumping a week before giving birth - and NO she was not the horse!!

If you are a very fit person and have a set exercise routine then you can keep up with 90% of it right until the end of the pregnancy.  It is all a matter of knowing your limits and being sensible.

Best of luck. xxx

And how, exactly, do you know when you are one week pregnant?
Tanning beds. No tanning beds.  It's cuz she's a regular girl Gef.
Gef, I think when she says a week pregnant she probably means her period is a week overdue, which actually makes her 5 weeks pregnant but many people don't know that until they see the doctor or read a pregnancy book!
Oh, my interpretation of that was that she had sex a week ago, trying to conceive, and doesn't know yet but doesn't want to risk anything.  In which case she'd actually be considered 3 weeks pregnant (based on last menstrual period).

i worked as an assembler when i got pregnant with my son.  i assembled furniture, bicycles, outdoor grills and exercise equipment until the week before i was due and the contractions kept me off of work.  if you have a reason to be worried about misscarraige then maybe slow down a bit but otherwise your body will definately tell you when your going too far.  staying fit and healthy makes for an easier labor and recovery.
