Having read and listened to many people who seem to disagree with the X Factor result on Saturday, I have to ask the question, "do others think that it could be fixed"?

And are the viewers votes scrutinised by an independent body?

I myself wonder if these people that disagree actually bother voting or just think because they think someone is good people will vote for them
I think it's an independent body that counts it in the first place, but I'm really beginning to wonder if it's fixed.

My colleagues are of the opinion that because Ruth's not British, that's why she didn't get the vots, but I don't think so. I'll be very saddened if that's the case :o(
I don't now if the viewers votes are scrutinised by an independent body, but I would like to see the actual % of who were in the bottom 3.

It doesn't seem right to me how that girl was voted off.
I read somewhere that the winner's song will be the Rufus Wainwright classic "Halleluah" - and who did this song earlier in the series?
Who's voice would it probably most "suit"?

Thats right - the one who sounds like PeeWee Herman!
Would the Broadcasting Standards Commission cover this?

I can't help thinking now that it is fixed. The strength of feeling nationwide regarding Saturday's results would seem to prove this.
Only Jeff Buckley (or perhaps Elvis) should be allowed to sing Halleluja! (Impossible I know).
I don't think it is fixed, I think you have to think about the audience that bothers to vote - I would imagine that Northern Ireland would get behind Eoghan >sp??) and also he would probably have the Smash Hits (ok, ok, I know it's not published anymore) vote. Although, I think there's little doubt that Ruth has the better voice - does she have the votes?

I think it could be down to the fact that she is not British, but not because voters are racist but because they are proud of their own homegrown talent and want to support them.

Ruth obviously isn't as popular as the press re making out because she has been in the bottom two so many times, if it was fixed surely they would have got rid of her sooner rather than keep sticking her in the bottom two for weeks on end?
Yeah Nat, but the Judges know that Ruth's the better singer, which is why she was always saved.

I didn't vote for Leon last year, I think he's pants whether he's Scottish or not, surely I'm not in a minority here? A whole nation voting for one person just because he's from there? That's quite a sad thought.
I don't entirely agree Natalie. Some people may well vote for a local competitor, but I think the majority of people would honestly vote for who they thought was best. And let's face it Eoghan for the most part can't even sing in tune.

I thought Diana was Ok at first and quite liked her quirkiness. She now sounds like a comedy take off of herself!
I'm the same, Lottie (hiya BTW xx). I liked Diana when she first came on, but now I don't.

I thin Cheryl should have chosen that other lass, around the same ages as Diana, who lived with her Dad....remember her??
Hi Lakitu xx (apologies AOG)
Personally, I think it is fixed. Every year, each judge has one act left....miraculously! So to me that in itself tells me its fixed. Ruth should never have gone. Diana is the one who should have gone. She needs to stop the child-like horrible singing, brush her hair, put on a pair of shoes and put the hand down! lol
It depends who the typical voter is though - who actually sits and votes? I know lots of people who watch it and all have an opinion on who they think should win, but I don't know anyone who actually takes the trouble to vote, because nobody really cares that much. I, on occasion, have voted, usually in a final or something, but very rarely. I would imagine, and it's just my opinion, that it would be the teeny bopper types and their mums who place the votes, and I can see neither supporting Ruth. Alexandra perhaps, as she is hip and very Leona / Rihanna-ish, but not Ruth. Ruth is a rock chick at heart, but how many rock fans stay in and watch and more importantly vote on X-Factor? I think you need to be able to relate to the artist to take the trouble to vite for them, it's not just a singing contest you have to really like that person to warrant spending 35p on them.

I know that was a masssive generalisation lol!
But Cheryl has 2 and Dani has none...
Whoops! Thats my theory out the window then!! haha ...ok maybe its fixed so that one of cheryl's wins?? Ok I know I'm clutching at straws!! lol
I voted once - for Will Young!! Long time ago now.
And Gareth Gates was the dead cert in that comp Lottie!
I can see that the public vote less for who has the best voice - or even the best voice on the night - than for their fave, no matter how badly they perform.

If yiou apply that forlmula, it explains why Ruth went out, and two singers who did not perform as well, stayed in.

I see the final as being my Alexandra (that skin ....!) sorry, where was I?

Oh yes, and the lads with the short-stop lead singer who looks like he's wearing a really cheap wig - he needs to see a hairdresser and quick!

On the basis of the public, I know who should win, but since when has that been a ... ahem ... factor?
I wonder if Ruth was voted out as Simon pointed out,' This is a British Competition' and I think it was Danni that said she was shouting a lot, which is only right as she was singing rock songs, but I think these 2 comments went against her.
How many of you think that Simon will give her a recording contract and get her to sing a little in Spanish, and how many think that now he has finished with his girlfriend he might have designs on Ruth?
after the Ofcom enquiry and all the fines that were handed out, the voting has to be squeaky clean and is closely monitored.

Judges can obviously manipulate by their comments, singing position, songs choices, etc. but then if the public fall for it . . .

IMO Ruth would not have lasted as long and might not have made it past bootcamp if she wasn't Spanish.
