What happened to Inspector Gold of The Bill? I go on holiday and she is no longer in the programe and why was she not replaced nwith Smithy instead of a new comer?

After the siege where Smithy was held at gunpoint in the school, Ins Gold decided that it was time for her to leave and she wanted to go immediately. She had a conversation with the ginger Chief Inspector (can't remember his name) and they discussed possible replacements for her post. Smithy and Sgt Stone were rejected for various reasons (which again I can't remember) and Claire Goose was suggested as the replacement, she was approached and said yes. Hope this help fill in some of the blanks. :)

I am sorry that Gina has gone, she was one of my favourite characters.

Gina told the inspector that Smithy would not want the job. I miss her too, she was a favourite.

My Beef is where has REG Hollis gone, I realise he had a breakdown,but I am very surprised that he did not at least get a mention as a way of goodbye .
Anyone agree.
