Then thats peoples own fault for being so silly and not realsing theres no way she could lose that much weight that quickly. Like these pregnant celebrities that bring out an exercise dvd saying they lost all that baby weight and got a flat stomach when half of them have a c section then get a tummy tuck at same time.
Yes, but they generally don't claim to be perfectly fat and happy do they?
Well, personally I think it's a lot of fuss about nothing.

I think she's a damn fine presenter, fat or thin, and has a great personality. I hope she graces our screens for years to come.
There is every chance that she will be back to her original size soon any way. As lotti says its not a merical cure.
Celebs are used because the advertizers know that people will take notice of them wether or not they are telling the truth. Doctors have been saying for years that diet and exercise are the only way to lose weight but u try tell the mag reading women of this nation who hang on every word the likes of Fern and Devina say.
Thats why the dieting industry are doing such a\ cracking trade.
By the way I'm 44 and over weight. I like food and I'm not afraid to say it. I constantly fight to keep my weight down and I'm losing. The older u get the hard it gets.
If any one calls me a fat cow I just tell them not to make comments like that with a face like theirs, because most of the people that say it are usually butt ugly, stick insects that belong on the front of a science magazine with the caption 'WTF is it'.

I'm neither skinny or fat but I have hang ups about myself but if a magazine that was going to be distributed all over the UK interviewed me and asked if I was happy with my body, then it's highly unlikely that I would admit to not being happy with me. Why should I and why should she?

Y'know, even if she HAD admitted to the magazines that she was unhappy with her weight, the media (and I daresay some ABers!) would have her hung, drawn and quartered citing her being a 'lollipop head' as the reason.

She can't win. She's a nice lady regardless now leave her alone LOL.
Actually I abhor anything her and Phil tediously giggle their way through with inane sexual innuendos, sarfle snarfle indeed. Dont matter to me if they were both fat or thin. I just find them rather pointlessly trying to be the older generations answer to Ant & Dec ..or perhaps the younger generations little and large.
PMSL @ tiger!1 Your last sentence - hilarious!
This is only the same as Jade Goody claimig to have lost all her weight through practicing all the exercises on her workout DVD (available now in all good shops), only to be rumbled as having had Liposuction to get rid of her excess fat.
This happens all the time, we are constantly manipulated by the press to believe that we can achieve a perfect body by ploughing money into DVDs and diet foods. The reality is that once you get past a certain stage, surgery is the only way to look like the stars who have also had surgery.
I personally couldn't give a t0ss about Fern Britton though, I'm glad she's lost the weight. It must be doubly difficult to lose weight when you are married to a chef.
she probably was happy oct and then people calling her names like they have done on here have got to her, why shouldnt she be allowed to change herself, why does she have to tell everyone. She is a brilliant presenter it isnt against the law like the presenters who have taken drugs so dont see a problam with it.
I'd love to be married to a chef!
But who's at fault fern or the people that believed she lost all that weight in such a short space of time? You cant stop the media using vulnerable people it will always happen
Perhaps people believed she was genuine about being happily fat, then flet proud for her that she dieted and exercised to get trim, but felt let down when it was revealed none of it was true.
Octavius, getting a band doesn't mean she wakes up slim and fit, she still needed to work toward all that herself so she didn't disappoint at all.
Just been doing a bit of research. Apparently gastric bands have a 25% failure rate and often it takes two years before they even start to make any difference. People are counselled before they have them as they have to also eat properly and exercise to achieve results. They are called a 'slimming aid' and are not a cure.
My friend had a band fitted last year, and she has lost weight slowly and with hard work on her part. I really resent the accusation that this method is a lazy way for people to lose weight.
I cheated, incidentaly; I had liposuction and went from a size 16-18 to a size 10-12. And I don't care what people say about it either ;o)
I am not debating the merits and capabilities of gastric bands, merely the viewing publics perception of Fern. Lets not forget that there are still people in the UK who believe that soap actors really are the characters they portray. They really do believe what they are told on telly or in the papers.

Whether she had a band, dieted and exercised, did both, lost weight rapidly or slowly is not the issue. It is that she fundamentally appears to have rationally or otherwise let down her primary target audience and fan base.

Perhaps the guilt is causing the stress.
Cheries I hope you havent had any other surgery lol
Has their been a mass reaction from her fan base proving they are disallusioned with Fern?
Yes, her 3 fans are quoted as saying....'most disappointed' and 'she always seemed so honest and trustworthy' and 'i can't afford any elastic bands so i am only spending my money on mars bars from now on, at least they help you rest and play, although i am actually out of work at the moment so i can't do that'.

Its a travesty, I tell ya.
Octavius it seems you have a great problem with innuendo rather than anyone in particular whos saying it.

Chill out .

In the grand scheme of things its really of little imporetance.
