I would have preffered it if they had dropped the weird stuff and given us a police show with these characters.
i wasn't that impressed to be honest, it was okish but i think i'm going to reserve judgement till isee a few
I loved it too!!
it was all wierd and will so keep me hooked!!
and I wonder how come I've never noticed Gene before, he's kinda nice!!
DI Alex Drake was taking her daughter to school, and didn't want to go to the gunman, it was only because he was asking for her by name that she responded.
Drake instructed for her daughter to stay in the car.
I was thinking she should have got another officer to drop her off to school
i loved it too and will watch rossy tonight to see philip glennister
i was a bit confused - was the person that actually shot her the same person that threatened to shoot her earlier?
To be honest rugeleyboy, I was slightly disappointed.

Life on Mars was superb, but this seemed a little lame.

I am with Brionon insofar as I believe another 1973 series should have been made without all the sci-fi stuff. Gene Hunt could have carried a normal series off no problem.
I never saw any of Life on Mars and gave up on Ashes to Ashes last night.. Would it have made more sense if I had seen Life on Mars and seen all these characters before?
I loved Life on Mars but last night's programme left me cold. That Alex Drake needs a slap.
I'll keep watching it to see if it improves.
Having been a massive fan of Life on Mars I found this a little cringeworthy, never the less I expect I shall greedily watch every single episode they show, where there's a Gene there's a way!
It was fantastic, can't wait for the next episode! I loved Life on Mars, but Ashes to Ashes will be better for me as I can relate more to the 80s than the 70s. Good to see Gene and the boys back and I think Alex is fabulous.
I loved LOM and this looks promising ... It got off to a slow start but I think it will get going in the next one ,they gave a hint last night that it's something to do with her parents . Not too keen on her (Alex) and the new Wpc is a bit of a drip .
But ..the minute I saw those snakeskin shoes get out of that Quatro I was mesmerised . ..trust the Gene Genie !
I agree and think he could carry off a series with his two sidekicks with no problem . A sort of Sweeney revival show !.
I wasn't keen on it.
I loved Life on Mars and think Philip Glenister is great, but I didn't really enjoy this.
What I liked about LOM was the not knowing if Sam was in a coma, or back in time etc and he didnt know either, whereas Alex Drake seems to think she knows what has happened to her.
Will probably watch next week to see what happens.

after reading your thought i can see its had a mixed review?

i do believe that gene and his squad (roger that) could very easily have a show in their own, without all the sci fi?

i think they threw a lot in last night to try and perhaps give alex a background but to be honest..

her in leather carrying a gun kinda gives me the horn!!!

ROFL!!!...... its worth watching for gene himself!!
Never mind the series (which l thought was great) what about the 80's music!
Does it bring back memories or what! Absolutely brill and it still knocks the socks off the trash brought out today.
