is it true that 'meet the fucqkers' was originally made for TV?

it'sa meet the fockers, I know that the film company made a mistake by using that surname, they had researched it to make sure the name did not actuallly exist, and went ahead with the production, then a family turned up in mid-west amaerica of that name and the film company got abit panicky, but as it was a srqual to meet the parents it prob wasn't destined for TV
As I understand it, the makers had to show there WAS a family or person of that name to get it past the censors.

yes, its what TCL says. I heard Dustin Hoffman tell the story in an interview.
They couldnt have used it unless they found a family with that name.
