I used to like him until I saw him present Clarkson with an award last night - that in its self is a joke. But now I cannot help thinking he is taking himself just a little too seriously

I think LH needs to tread carefully.

The serious goodwill he has built up by his genuine personality and fantastic driving skills can be destroyed overnight by trying to justify saving 4 million in tax by saying it is to avoid autograph hunters in petrol stations that he is moving to Switzerland.

And yes - are they sure the Clarkson montage was quite long enough? I could have watched at least another five hours of it, and it felt like I did!

Petrol heads - what is it with these people!

I just thought LH looked a little smug and seemed to want to hog the limelight - trying to detract from the wonder that is Clarkson(!!!)
I find it more alarming that fat boy clarkson got an award.

Top gear has gradually become 3 middle aged with blokes with ridiculous dress sense, reading rubbish jobs off autocue.
jokes even
I thought the whole thing was a bit awkward and embarassing, JC talked over LH (quelle surprise) and LH didn't really seem sure of what he was supposed to be saying although I am sure he would have had to rehearse.
Lewis Hamilton is not a TV personality. He is a motor sports star.

He should stick to what he is good at - helping Inspector Morse.
hmmm,

i thought it was a little awkward as he obviously had a speech but JC was talking over him, but i like LH and feel his criticism for leaving the country is a little overboard?

if i had his kind of income i would certainly move out of the UK for at least 6 months of the year if not all of it?

i wish him well in his future on and off the race track and perhaps i am a middle aged man who has poor dress sense as i love TG!!
Yes, I agree. LH appeared to want to say more and possibly stick to his script, but JC quite naturally was excited and wanted to start talking. LH should have handed the award over and moved aside. He was a bit too young and gauche for this job.
LH was distracted by people cheering in the audience which he heard but the mikes didn't pick up, JC would know this this with his experience hence he took over and saved an even more embarrassing situation,(pregnant pause) you saw he even had to take the award from LH
like him or loath him JC is a character and did well to save LH that night
Dont diss the Clarkson the mans a genius!

LH is only doing what all the other F1 drivers have done. Most of them live in Monaco or Switzerland, and why not, I think to save myself 4m a year in taxes and avoid the cyclical pedestal/sewer attitude of the British media, I would live wherever I could.

Octavius - I used to admire your judgment and envy your knowledge but two recent posts are denting your image. Clarkson is by not stretch of the imagination a genius and the acting on Corrie is, in my view, the best in any soap.
becky is by far the best actress in corrie.............. understated, yet strong!!!

I sat near her on a train to London recently - she is much prettier. Yes she is a good actress and has a lot of scope in her character too
I find Jeremy Clarkson hysterically funny. He is what he is and makes no excuses for it. I also quite like Lewis Hamilton,he has a great future ahead of him.Good luck to him.Did you hear the line when he told LH to tell Alonso his eyebrows are too big?haha. Alonso has left the McClaren team BTW

There ^^^^ speaks the voice of reason and common sense.

Clarkson, a demi-god!

In my defence I was just referring to that one wedding episode, where the acting, the storyline and believability walked slowly out of the Rivers Return, up the bridge and under the train.
