Did anyone who watched Torn last night, somehow immediately associate it with the Madaline case? Or was this the reason for screening it?

Other times such sensitive matter would have never have been shown without certain involved persons consent being given.

Were the McCann's asked, did they grant permission , and if so why?

Wouldnt have thought so, I would imagine its been scheduled for that time slot for ages
I thought that too, was a bit miffed as to why they din't rescedual, they often do don't they? I remember a crime drama being rescedualed becaue of Holly and Jessica and also Corry changed a storyline because of the Mccans recently.
not really that much like it, they didnt leave their kid home alone and they found her eventually. And I wouldnt have thought the mccanns were asked either, if they were I have no idea why, loads of things on tv mirror events happening to people everyday
I'm not saying they were right or wrong in showing it, you are right T.V reflects real life, but they do so often rescedual things that are similar. I personally think that after the first few minutes it was notheing at all like the maddie case!
Who cares it was a load of old tosh anyway, I'm glad I fell asleep lol
rev if you fell asleep how do you know it was tosh? and i cant se any rason why the mccanns should give permission anyway, it wasnt based on a true story
see reason!!
coz thats probably what sent him asleep :-)
I watched the first half then fell asleep which says something for the program lol
i like watching ready steady cook but was so tired yesterday that i missed it, doesnt mean it was rubbish
FFS Gina get yr head from up yr ar5e.

I said it was rubbish, my opinion. You liked it it didnt.
wow any need for that?
They said in the TV mag that this was filmed some time ago and that it only had some thread of likening to the McCann case. It makes a change from soaps and footie I guess.
you may have been tired rev already sauid he wadnt and thats what sent him to sleep. Can he not not like a programme and give his opinion. chill be happy :-)
sorry he already said he wasnt and programme sent him to sleep :-)
I think the knee-jerk reactions to real life situations which coincide with TV are just ridiculous. Since soaps first started there has been a steady stream of lost child story-lines - so what? . There is no reason at all to change them just because something similar happens in real life, surely the viewers should be adult enough to see it is only a coincidence.

As for asking the McCann`s permission to screen last nights programme - what an idiotic suggestion.
Torn was scheculed to air at the same time the Madeline case started to get press. So the producers did reschedule and they obviously have decided now is the right time. I doubt the Mcanns were asked.
when i watched it i too thought it was a bit thoughtless, nothing was said to the contrary as to if the Mccans had been asked their oppinion there again it may give them some hope of seeing Maddie again
yes i agree, i thought they may have cancelled it, there was a film coming out in america with ben elfick in it called gone baby gone about a 4 year old that was took from her bed, she bore a strong resemblence to maddie maccan and even stranger the little actress who played the girl was called madaline
