it was sad, i filled up wen Jim sobbed at her hospital bed. dont you think that sheryl and twiggy wud make a great couple? :)
I cried my eyes out especially when everyone was going in to kiss her and say goodbye
I had a lump in my throat. She was a great character. A new series wouldn't be the same without her.
I did see it coming though; the plor made it inevitable. What got me was the music though...Sinead O'Connor singing a very sad song; very moving!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one then. I think cheryl and twiggt would make a cracking couple. It was a very good special and well written.
I cried because that was the biggest waste of an hour of my time i have spent for ages.

Did anyone who watched it laugh at all?
I don't cry at things on TV really, but I did have a lump in my throat when they were all going in to say goodbye - especially when Jim went in. She was such a funny character!

I spent the episode thinking how Little David was cleverly cast as he looked like Dave, so wasn't surprised to see that he was actually Craig Cash's son in real life!
AAWWWW, this was such a fab episode, and i started ctying when nana was sat on the bed with barbara , and she thanked her and made her wish come true.... :-(

then of course when she dies at the end,... it was very moving for such a funny programme.

absolutely loved it!!!!
Like Brain monkeys I saw it coming - as soon as she started talking about dying it seemed obvious she would. I have to admit tho, while watching it I thought "did I really used to like this?" . Sorry but I just find it pants now.
I noticed that baby David looked like Dave as well. No wonder!

The episode did disappoint me but I did have a tear in my eye at the end.

I missed the first 5 minutes, did they what had happened since the last episode.
Spurslady you could have left mentioning the death until your actual question - I have recorded it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i had a lump in my throat when she died!!

the best bit was when jim was sulking in the kitchen cuz she took the batteries out of the remote for her fan!!! i was in hysterics and thought it was the funniest thing i had seen in a long time!!!

My only complaint is that it seemed a little rushed..I would have preferred a couple of episodes with more detail.

What happened to Anthonys missus, Emma?

I adored the segment with Jim & Norma (Nana) larking about on the walking frame & stairlift, especially as it was after his ranting about the remote control! it was great to see Denise finally settling into motherhood and being a bit more responsible..I had to laugh at the bit where she wanted to leave little David for the weekend (I can relate...lol). I found the series where she just had baby David hard going at times so it was pleasant to see her being mummy :o)

Touching moments? the farewells, obviously...Jim crying, 'Que Sera' segment, Twiggy calling Cheryl a 'belter'....Denise handing her new daughter to Nana...

Yes I wept!
I thought it was one of the best telly things in ages, the whole episode was faultless imho.
I agree pippa, it did seem a little rushed but I cried at Nana dying, which I'm putting down to pregnancy hormones but it was very touching all the same!
The documentary after it was bloody boring though, with JK Rowling blathering on.
I agree with Hard@it - no use flagging up a spoiler if you're going to put it in the first line of your question.
Yep, very moving and I thouroughly enjoyed it! Thought nana looked like Peter Stringfellow when she was wearing Denise's hair extensions!!
I wish you'd have hidden the spoiler too. Completely ruined it for me!
I adored it! I laughed until I ached because it is so well observed.

The whole point about brilliant comedy - a fact grasped by John Cleese, Tony Hancock, David Renwick and of course Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash - is that laughter is a fraction away from tears, and if you balance it right, you can switch from one to the other in a moment. That was the genius of last night - that Jim could rant and rave about something trivial that Norma had done, and then cry his eyes out when she died. Similarly, the exchange between Norma and Barbara. These are northern folk who find it hard to say what they feel, and express thjeir love for each other, but that was a mother / daughter moment, it was so pognant - then back to the humour.

One of the best things I've seen for ages!
