Sean Connery, why, because he was the sexyest and he brought a certain rogueish charm to the character, yum yum.
George Lazenby
come on Homer55 you have to back it up with a reason.
I love all the films and the books. I actually like Mr Brosnan the best. He seems to have a quality that makes you follow him when he's on screen...
Does anyone know who played the first James Bond??
Sean Connery because he just has something special. I am in my 20s and my mum in her 50s and we both STILL fancy him even though he is in his 70s!

Pierce comes second. The rest were just not attractive and therefore not believable as the ladies man they were playing

Roger Moore was the worst. Yuck
david niven casino royale
Incorrect upthedubs
I know bob holness(spelling?) was the second to play him on south african radio.
oh and barry nelson played him on tv in 1954.
Bob Holness is the answer i have. (Or so i was told anyway) he first played him in 1957 on a South African Radio Station
Barry Nelson :

He was the first person to play James Bond in a visual sense (others have played him on radio); he appeared as "Card Sharp Jimmy Bond" in an American TV adaptation of "Casino Royale
Daniel Craig.

Only seen the trailers for 'Casino Royale' so far, but he's the only Bond who can walk down a beach in trunks without holding his stomach in.

Danny Boy will wipe away all memory of previous Bonds.
I'm a big bond fan. and i just cant picture daniel graig as james bond. i will still go and see the film but i doubt i will ever see him as bond.
Pierce Brosnan, utterly believeable as a ladies man & ruthless killing machine

In second place would be either Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton - brief though his tenure was. Roger Moore was another ruthless ladies man and Mr Dalton used to smoulder with barely contained rage.
I thought Connery was the perfect Bond. He had the looks, the charisma, physical strength etc., and was very believable.

I would have liked to have seen Lazenby play Bond again. I'm not sure whether it his acting or the film OHMSS that made him stand out (film had everything - 2 Bond themes, Telly Savalas, Diana Rigg, Aston Martin DB5, Ski scenes... but then it did have him in a kilt lol)

I enjoyed Roger Moore for his comedy value and Brosnan was great in Goldeneye. I wish Dalton had better stories because I think he could have given something a bit better.
Timothy Dalton was the closest to the real James Bond (original written by Mr Flemming) he was dark and moody. The problem he had was the 80's and weak writers and even weaker suppert actors.

Unfortunatly it seems to be more about gadgets than spying even more so in recent years, which is why i am glad the new one is going to be less gadgets. What 'spy' would tell everyone his real name/spy name?????

However i did like David Niven as Jimmy Bond

sp1814 is right about Daniel Craig looking amazing in just shorts. Have a look at this clip - its like the Ursula Andres scene but for us ladies!

Sean Connery was always James Bond for me, then when it was announced that Pierce Brosnan was going to be asked i was a very happy bunny - cos i loved him in Remington Steele, however they wouldn't release him from his contract...which looking back was lucky - because when he eventually became Bond, he was aged to perfection!!! He handles the actions scenes brilliantly, and handles the humour very well. Utterly charming. Very sexy. and looks damned good in a tux! ;o)
I hated Lazenby. Actually met him once and he is a tit.

Best Bond... Roger Moore. He was the best all rounder. Suave, sophistcated, good at action and good at the tongue in cheek one liners.

But to be honest, it should not be liking one over another. All the films were different etc.
