I'm looking for ideas for an 80s Film and TV fancy dress party. I'm thinking of going as Timmy Mallett, but I also would like to know people's suggestions for black Film and TV stars from the 80s.

Mr T. :-)
Different strokes?
My mate went as Mr T, all he did was wore combats, got denim jacket and ripped the arms off, shaved his hair into a Mohican then wore them Christmas tree gold bead things round his neck and lots of rings.
tubbs from miami vice! cool as funk!

Not necessarily a black theme but -the white officers uniform from that other chick flick !!

Any superhero ! If your masked up it doesn't matter !

I saw a Mr T last week too - it was very funny - he blacked up!!! You can buy from HMV a small deviced that is called Mr T in your pocket !! At the touch of a button - you have loads of phrases - it's brilliant !

The chick with the squeaky voice from Police Academy? Or the irritating bloke who could do all the rubbish noises.
Bill Cosby!
Pardon me for asking, but isn't blacking up a bit, well, racist? Or are you actually black and intending to go as a black Timmy Mallett? That would be cool.

I'm white, but there are black (and asian) people going who are a bit stuck for ideas.

black females by the way
Diana Ross, Big puffy dress and afro
How about MC Hammer with those ridiculous trousers!
Five Star
Lenny Henry as Trevor MacDoughnut
Eddie Murphy
Why is blacking up racist ? Surely all you are doing is an impression/impersonation etc of another person. It's no good going as a white Mr T - ya Damn fool !!!! If a black man went as a white character he wouldn't look the same either. Unless you are portraying blacks as ignorant/2nd class citizens etc as in the B & W minstrels then only then can you play the race card. I think it would be hilarious if all the asian and black people went as elvis or someone obviously white !!

I aint gettin' on that plane !!
If they're female, what about Diana from the cartoon Dungeons & Dragons. or the lady in Tom & Jerry. Ha ha... THOMAS! You good for nothing cat!
