I had heard that the record number of complaints received for any one prgramme was the paedophile edition of brass eye which was only 800 complaints. If a programme is banned because they receive that many complaints then who wants to phone up and complain about Coronation Street with me? Just think, we could kill off one of britains finest :)

It wasn't banned.
"Banning" something depends on criteria of taste and decency and offensiveness, not based on the number of complaints. It depends on whether the complaints have any merit.

When Jerry Springer: The Opera was broadcast last year, the BBC received around 45,000 complaints. 15,000 of these BEFORE the show was aired.

I think when a program receives lots of complaints, it only makes more people want to watch it.
