my boyfriend thought he was a hyped up show off who held his baby whilst feeding a crocodile, but as a mother myself although i wouldnt choose to do it i dont think he would have done it if he thought there was any risk to his baby. Im gonna miss him.
yes it's a shame , I was only thinking the other week that when he does die it will be from an animal accident, he took far to many risks, but I am sure he wouldn't have wanted to live his life in any other way.
Did you ever see him on Frank Skinner show. I was in stitches. GRHS xx
Question Author
no i never saw him on frank skinner but now i will have to try and find it.
I was relly shocked and saddended to hear this news this morning. Steve Irwin had so much passion for what he did and he was a brilliant character, I for one will miss watching his fab documentarys.
He could be a very irksome character, as many larger-than-life characters are, but his contribution to wildlife education redeemed him.

I don't think he was a bad father. I wouldn't have put my baby near a crocodile because I don't know crocodiles, but Steve did know them - well enough to know the child was safe.

I feel a bit pathetic cos I feel really choked up like its someone I know personally that has died, god I really feel for his wife and kids. my son is 3 and my daughter is almost 8, the same as steves little ones.
I know one should never speak ill of the dead but I never liked him. I always thought of his programmes as a tabloid equivalent to David Attenborough.
despite the fact he was a bit annoying, in terms of what he has done for australia, australian conservation and stimulating interest in nature and wildlife for kids he is amazing. his programmes were only the tip of the iceberg he was a very passionate man who has left a lasting legacy internationally in terms of conservation awareness.

he'll be sorely missed and i feel for his wife and kids.

at least he died doing what he loved best.
steve was great, he was entertaining not boring and thanks to him, my two boys understand crocs and snakes and know not to be afraid, but in awe. The Croc episode gave him unfair critisism. There are more children killed crossing roads, in car accidents then eaten by Crocs. He was truley original and fantastic to watch without being condesending. Miss you mate and deepest sympathies to his wife and kids.
RIP Steve Irwin
my 7 year old son always watches his shows and is heartbroken today.
He was clearly passionate about animals, conservation, his family and all at Australia zoo.

I feel for his family and friends. RIP.
I feel the same I posted a question about it before without looking further down the page to see this one.

I felt a horrible chill go down my spine, I didn't know him but I too feel sad like it was a friend that had died. I think it's because he was still so young, had a wonderful young family, those poor kids. But at least they will have a eternal legacy in the form of his programmes and films etc. to hold onto for the rest of their lives.

My heart goes out to his friends and family I send my deepest sympathies.

Love or dislike him he was a truly original character who can never be replaced.
I must admit, Im more saddened by his death than I was of Princess Di's death, I know some people will find this disgusting, but he reached me more when i was a child and opened my eyes to the world of reptiles and conservation.

Its very saddening but the thing thats saddened me more today is I've already got a joke e-mail about it, where someone has already gone to the trouble of doing a joke picture. Sick people out there and even sicker to pass it on.
I've seen it too 4getmenot - in very poor taste. Some people obviously have too much time on their hands.

I thought he was great...and his shows were fun to watch.
I was shicked when I heard. I wasnt a huge fan of his but I did enjoy his programs when I did see them. He was very interesting and I learnt a lot. It was obvious he was going to go doing something with animals but I thought it would e more likely to be a crocodile or snake not a docile stingray. I feel for his wife and 2 children.
