Whereas the film castaway, the one with Oliver Reed, was based on real life events.

IMDB says that his companion was Lucy Irving. I think that was her real name and she did write a book about it.

Thanks naz and muncy for replying but not realy what i'm looking for. It's specficly the crashing of a plane and the survival of a modern man.Lord of the flies would be nearer the mark. Cheers
