Gordon had one too , think it's some sort of mic / ear piece?
It's just an earpiece so their number 1's can talk to them. Most TV presenters will have one with the directors of the program telling them what to do, hurry up etc xx

yeh but earpieces are usually used for live shows and its not a live show........didnt notice Gordon wearing one though ! I'll have to re-check !
Ear pieces are used for most TV shows. All the people on the studio floor wear them, camera crew, sound gang, front-of-camera people. The problem is, everyone hears everything, so if you are 'on camera', you have to not only tuen out instructions for someone else, and listen to and react to instructions that are for you, but you have to hold conversations and talk to camera as well! It is not as easy as people like Dermot make it look.
As Andy says, ear-pieces are not just used on live TV shows, it makes communication from the director in the gallery easier, as it saves having an assistant relay instructions from the studio floor.

I know about ear pieces but they are used by presenters, not the people appearing on the show as Dermot was.
Also, there was no lead coming from the ear piece with no battery pack.
I noticed this but Gordon was definitely wearing one too so I assumed it was a wireless earphone for them to take direction through
