Apologies if this has been asked before but the search thingy isn't working for me for some reason.

After much heated debate this morning, could you please clarify which is the best car chase

' The French connection', 'Ronin' or despite the hype & VW debacle would you vote for 'Bullitt'

One vote for "The French Connection" ....Gene Hackman's look as he's driving is the business...

Adding another one to the pot (set in good ol' London) is the one from the John Wayne film "Brannigan" , just a change to see the streets of London being bombed around on the big screen 'a la "Sweeney " etc
TFC here.

I think car chases featuring older models are always more exciting because of the on-the-edge handling and lurchy suspension.
Blues Brothers for me.

TFC here too. Tho saw Bullit last night and it was still a cool car chase.
Hi Jon.....how are you? Take it you never put a team into our AB FF league? Enjoying the WC I hope nonetheless. I certainly am, looking forward to the next set of games. Brazil top at the ready ;o)
has to be Ronin and the Audi
Remembered another one; in 'Robbery' (starring Stanley Baker) - not particularly stunt-filled, like in 'Taxi', but interesting for the London street locations.

So, kick, you'd agree about older models?
oh absolutely. The term I use is "classic" ;o)
Can I just add the Bourne Supremacy to the list too. Gritty realism through the streets of Moscow in a taxi, none of those Hollywood explosions every time a car crashes! Class
Good one, Gevs!

Mikeyd2, Brannigan was as bad as Bullitt - the continuity of the car chase was laughable - look at the route and the landmarks, although I may be being harsh as I doubt many cinemagoers know London that well .or are as pedantic as me!?!?

Great shout on Bourne Gevs

Hiya Kick, missed out on the FF unfortunately - doing well on the betting front though!!

WC is always good fun but its been a mixed bag this time - only a couple of cracking games so far - but should liven up from now on, cant wait til tomorrow, I need my fix!!

Stop teasing and show us your Brazilian then .;-)
Oh I agree Jon 1968 with your comment and that was said by the critics at the time , but the old trusty Jag etc knocking about London chased by Wayne in a Capri jumping Tower Bridge makes up for the continuity etc. Why we're on about it , the ending with the E-type and its sound effects . The driver has gun in one hand and steering wheel in other , but you still hear the gears being changed ...hmmmm.
Matrix 2
92 wrecked cop cars, plus a truck, an RV and a station wagon in only 102 miles!! Blues Brothers for me too.(Maybe not the best, but the funniest!!)
Much as I love the Blues Brothers, the prize has to go to the Italian Job.
I'm with Saxyjag - I loved the Italian job (the original one) just pure brilliance
The Driver 1978

starring Ryan O'Neal & Bruce Dern

also agree with spaced and Ronin
One of my faves is the mini chase from the Bourne Identity.
Ronin is the best of the late film chases.

Bullitt is great for sound and vision, and Steve McQueen actally driving

Vanishing Point because virtually the whole film is a car chase
