Urgent! Pirate films...

Can anyone think of any decent pirate film, apart from pirates of the caribbean. As needed for comparisions to this film. (For my GCSE english coursework)

Thanks, I've decided to go for hook, but I might add some of the others in just as a light comparison. Wasn't the recent peter pan a bit of a flop? Not sure becase I've never seen it.
but Hook and Pirates of the Caribbean are a good comparison, as When it came to awards, Hook came away with 4 wins and 9 nominations overall. Whereas Pirate of the Caribbean came away with 26 wins and 58 nominations! Quite a difference...

Robert Shaw made a marvellous pirate film called The Scarlet Buccaneer,aka Swashbuckler.
And there is always captain Blood starring Errol Flynn.

Does it have to be the classic idea of pirates? Could something like the sci-fi film Serenity count? It's a slant on the old pirate/bounty hunter theme. Not all pirates wear an eye patch and go aargh...

It's gotta be compared with Pirates of the Carribean, if you think that sci-fi style pirates match. Then sure! Let me know

"Light at the edge of the world" is a tough portrayal of pirates and thier general cruelty etc. Doesn't get a good score on IMDB but I thought it was quite good and I imagine it's a more accurate portrayal than the usual romanticised efforts of hollywood.
