I'm fed up with people ringing works trying to sell our company things today. So when they ring up work and ask who deals with stationary, vehicles etc I need to give them a good name back like Bart Simpson does to Mo in The Simpsons. Can anyone think of some good ones? :-)

I can sympathise with your frustration, but these people are just doing their job, trying to increase sales for their company, ensuring that their company remains profitable , and keeping everyone employed :)

Every company should have someone inhouse who is responsible for monitoring overheads, and where appropriate, changing suppliers if it will save money.

Only 3 ways of increasing the profitability of any business;
1.Increase turnover - usually means costs incurred through extra sales, marketing, advertising effort etc, not to mention increased production/warehousing costs and so on
2.Increase prices - great for increasing profitability,but most companies would be very nervous about doing this.
3. DECREASE OVERHEADS - No costs, money goes straight to the bottom line, and all it takes is that someone in house listens to some of these sales calls :)

I'm giggling like a loon over some of 'em.

lazygun I listen to these calls all day too.It only gets annoying after the 5th call from the same company trying to offer the same things i refused the day before. I can understand 4getmenots frustration. At the end of the day she may get her fun out of giving these names and the sales literature will still come piling through the door, just with an odd name on

When I started work, years ago, it was tradition to invite the 'new boy' to apply for 'fast track' promotion. I was given a number to call, and told to ask for Mr C. Lion. I rang the number - and it was Chester Zoo! I dread to think how many people that day had already made that call!

We're really busy at the moment, I had a sales call today asking for the boss, I said she wasn't available. They asked when would be a good time to call back... I told them October.
