Does anyone know the title of a Western series that was on on Saturday mornings about an ex-US cavalryman. It used to open every week with the scene of him being stripped of his corporal's (?) stripe and having his sword broken by his superior ( I think it was because he was wrongly accused of something,as is always the way).

The series was called 'Branded' and as you remember, started every week with the star - Chuck Connors - being stripped of his insignia, and watching an unmfortunate sabre / colonel's knee interface, while the stirring theme song wondered how anyone could cope with being ".... branded ... when you know you're a man!" in wonderfully butch voices. I think the officer was accused of desertion, which of course was not true. Chuck Connors went on to make 'The Rifleman', another long-running western series.

Andy - thanks very much. I don't suppose you know the name of another one from around the same era. It was set in North Africa at the time of the crusades. It may have been a foreign show dubbed into English but the main character had chain mail with the white tunic thingy with the cross of St.George on it and carried a broadsword. This is a bit like Prime Minister's question time where I slip in the trickier supplementary question!
Could that be "the Flashing Blade"? http://epguides.com/FlashingBlade/
I thought the one in the second question might be this :-

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168387/reference

I think the theme tune is somewhere on Youtube.
