A selected few men on earth are given nuclear bombs by an alien race. These weapons are in the form of a shell (as in bivalve). The recipient is the only person who can use it by calling out the lat.& long. of ground zero whereby the bomb is whisked to the location and detonates. There are, of course, many side plots. Yes, I know ,it sounds very B movie stuff but I would like to revisit it as I still think about from time to time so it obviously left an impression on me over 50 years ago.

I don't know vimto, but it sounds great! and sorry to highjack your question but I remember a film where aliens sent selected scientists parts to build a machine called an "interociter" (I think). The alien race was supposed to be more advanced than humans but the spares took on an almost clone like resemblence to old radio valves.

The 'Interoceter' was in "This Island Earth" (1955)

This is almost certainly "The 27th Day" (1957) starring Gene Barry (The Adventurer, War of the Worlds).

Five individuals from five nations, including the "Superpowers," USA, USSR, and China, suddenly find themselves on an alien spacecraft. An alien gives each a container holding capsules. No power on earth can open a given container except a mental command from the person to whom it is given. Each person has been provided with the power of life and death. Any of these individuals has the capability to instantaneously launch the capsules to whatever coordinates he/she chooses, and each capsule will then eradicate all human life within a 3,000-mile radius of its designated location.
