Did anyone else notice that Anne (Miss know-it-all) Robinson thinks there is a letter 'N' in Restaurateur and not one of the chefs took the opportunity to slap her down about it?

By the way Bob, I think it was Lee Trevino who once said that 'the golf course is the only place you can dress like a pimp and not be in danger of being arrested'.
So did Huggy Bear
dud have you ever got one in the hole first time?

Dud...where are you going on your hols...Augusta OR The Rose in Dartford
Question Author
Toon, I have been to Augusta but even after ten years on the waiting list I only got tickets for the practice days. It was still brilliant though and everything you would expect it to be. I'm going to France this week with my wife and next door neighbours (Loire Valley). And Bob, yes I have holed in one, four years ago at the 194 yard 14th at Royal ashdown Forest (Three wood) not bad for a lowly 18 handicapper eh?
Did anyone see you get the hole in one...I wud have done a lap of honour. Did your playing partner have to get the drink in ?
Question Author
They certainly did. I was playing with a society and it cost me 72 at the bar. It was worth every penny though.

Personally Dudley I eat at Restaurants, I don't think I've ever been in any restaurats, and in my english dictionary the word is restaurant.

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=restaurant
There is no 'n' in restaurateur. If the Americans put one in, that's their lookout. (They don't know how to pronounce 'kilometre' - the emphasis is on the first syllable.)
There is no N in the written word but the N is usually sounded when the word is spoken - just makes it easier to pronounce.
Question Author
Don1. The words restaurant and restaurateur are different words, As we all know a restaurant is where you eat and a restaurateur is someone who supplies food for the table. The latter should not be pronounced with an 'N' though. That's what makes our English language so interesting.
She also thinks its a letter T at the end of the word thousand. Munter.
