Did anyone see the public autopsy on tv during the week and if you did what did you think of it ...I thought it was amazing with mixed feelings of sadness for the man but mesmerised by the whole procedure I still feel slightly stunned by the idea of a public viewing of such a personal moment in a mans death.

Only saw the shorts on the news, and I can't help but wonder about the family of the man. Surely there must have been some sort of consent, was the family consulted? It is not as if it was for medical advancement. Is Society regressing?
For me it sums up the depths TV is prepared to go to. Sad ..
and how come they're calling it an autopsy? I thought the British called it Post Mortem?
It was made purely for scientific purposes and so I thought it was a good idea. As humans we seem to get very defensive when faced with someone willing to demystify our bodies. That is the main reason why this procedure was considered so taboo when televised. We are so scared of seeing a reflection of our bodies being at the mercy of another, completely helpless. I think the reason doctors and sugeons can do their job is because they are able to detach themselves from the significance of their own bodies and concentrate on the ailments of others, almost as a non-bodied-person. Wierd I know, but that's my take.
