Does everyone else love him to? Bless his cotton socks he is the sweetest character. I got to admit that sour faced cow Emily is getting on my nerves now she has shown her true colours. Is he staying or is he off somewhere?

Well Emily certainly isn't being a good Christian, is she. I think he is quite sweet too and Eileen deserves some happiness. He was on last night.

I love him too. But poor emily, try putting yourself in her shoes must be awful for her.

Hate to give my age away, but I'm old enough to remember when Emily's husband was shot. Back then a soap opera character getting killed was a really big deal, unlike now when someone seems to die every couple of weeks.

Audiences were not as sophisticated as they are now (only three TV stations, black and white pictures, and everybody watched Corrie), so people at the time were genuinely shocked, upset and angry.

So even though he appears a nice guy now, I can understand why Emily would behave the way she is.

Yup, I'm afraid I remember dear old Ernest copping it, too, so you must be as young as me, steve_c2it !!

As for how it's going to go?

A suicide attempt by Ed? Emily relenting and slowly starting to accept him? Happiness for Eileen?

(No spoiler warning because this a complete guess - I haven't got a clue what's going to happen)

Could you forgive someone who murdered a member of your family even after 28 years? I doubt it somehow?
He goes back to his old ways and murders Eileen, Emily and Norris. He Robs Rita at Gun Point and then goes to Cartmelt to strangle Mavis. He comes back and digs up Richard Hilman and then gets into a suicide pact with the Fowllers in a corrie/'enders cross over plot stylee!!................ooh... er .. is it time to get up yet!?
I remember at the time people in factories were taking collections for 'that bloke who had been killed' when asked who it was they said Ernest Bishop!

hopalong,I think you take the situation a little too seriously.

In context, this is soapland, where if someone kills your fiance in a hit-and-run one year, then you can be sure to be marrying them the next !!

On a separate note; Have you ever noticed how many people deny furiously that they ever watch soaps, but can give you an up to date plot run down of everything from Family affairs to Doctors!
