The twin baby with two heads......

.....I tried to watch the programme, but it was so distressing, I had to walk out of the room for a good cry.

To see a conjoined baby with no torso suckling, crying & smiling, knowing it would certainly die after separation, was just as horrifying watching the progress & separation of a fully formed conjoined twins & that's bad enough.

Does anyone know the latest progress on the little girl that survived? Thanks.

She had some sort of brain damage but as far as I could gather it isnt too a terrible extent (maybe not the right wording?, cant really word how brain damage isnt terrible).

It was hard to watch but the baby with no body was living off of the baby who was fully formed, although tough and unfair it was the right thing to do as you

I am sure you know. I didnt like the way the hospital seemed only interested to do the operation to capitalise on it. But at the same time they do need to raise money 300,000 a year is a ridulous amount of money to run a hospital on. Is a tough one Smudge.
I watched the programme too smudge. Very emotional. The little girl who survived, suffered brain damage. And yes Greedyfly, the amount of money that hospital had to run on was unbeliveable.
I got the impression at the end of the programme that it's still too early to assess how much brain damage there is, or how she will be affected in the long term. She's only 2, so they might do a follow-up programme in a few years' time.
It was very hard to watch. You can understand the hospital wanting to make money as they spent a good part of their budget on the op and they do have other children to heal. However, the wee girl was smiling before the op, but seemed really sad after. It was a very difficult situation and I was glad that I was not the mother - it must have been absolutely heartbreaking for her. I hope they do a follow up in a few years to see how she is doing.
I'd seen it advertised but just couldn't even begin to watch it. My wee boy's only 2.5, so it was all just a bit real and horrific for me.
I found it hard that only the nurse refered to the 'parasite' as a seperate entity. But maybe it was better for the parents not to see her like that, as there was no way she could have survived anyway. As everyone's said, I don't think they yet know the extent of the brain-damage suffered.

Thank you all for your replies on the progress of this poor little girl. I do hope she improves in time.

When you think of all the money that is wasted in this world, when others desperately need it!

I also didn't like the terminology of 'parasite' EB & found it quite upsetting, but maybe they had to detach themselves from what was inevitable after separation...
