ha ha ha your funny, thanx for brightening up a boring saturday!!!
Yer I've seen it. I myself find it strange but I'm gonna watch it to see what they have to say. I do get shirty when people have a go at mothers breastfeeding in public because if a babys hungry then you feed it, But a 7 year old can surely get a ribena from the corner shop.

Each to their own I suppose but I just couldn't imagine still breastfeeding my kids up until that age. That clip just looked so bizarre , seeing the seven year old girl spread across her mother's lap , latching on. Yuk ! It made me very uncomfortable watching it to be honest and yet I will definitely watch this programme , out of curiosity more than anything else to find out their reasons for continuing for so long. I am assuming that it is fulfilling an emotional need but I don't think that that need lies largely with the child - more with the mothers in question. I also wonder if the children have mentioned this to any of their friends and what their reaction was. Although the benefits of breastfeeding are finally being recognised - at last - it is not the 'norm' in the UK to feed children in this way to the age of seven. I realise that this can be common practice in certain countries but in the UK I would say that it is definitely uncommon. I also squirmed watching the mother who was sitting with her breasts bared and two chilkdren latched on at the same time - one on each breast. This is largely due to me being a stereotypical British prude , not wanting to see bare flesh in public. Although I breastfed my children and am still breastfeeding my one year old son , I am very discreet. To an onlooker , it appears as if I am just cuddling my baby. I personally feel that there is no need to bare your breasts whilst feeding your baby and putting others in an uncomfortable position. I have always fed my son in front of my two daughters and introduced it to them as the natural thing to do but feel no need to become an exhibitionist - especially in front of my children.

I remember watching something similar last year where the mothers were saying that they were called 'lactivists' and the idea was that they did not stop feeding their children until the kids specifically asked them to stop. Where do you draw a line though ? When your son brings his first girlfriend home ? Or until the day you die - as long as they are happy enought to continue ?!!
i think Ward-Minter has got the wrong end of the stick!
lol.not bitty now bitty later.

I breast fed both of my daughters until they were one. My elder daughter would sit and chat when I fed my younger girl and it was a lovely way for the three of us to bond.

However, anyone breast feeding a child who is old enough to walk, talk, use a TV remote and prepare a bowl of cornflakes for themselves has some serious control issues. (I'd suggest she try nipple clamps.)

I hope this programme doesn't put women off breastfeeding, I firmly believe that Breast Is Best..having breastfed 3 of my own ...however the sight off the woman with the 7 yr old spread across her front really made me cringe.Does this woman think she has something to prove because flashing her "tired looking titties" to the nation might put many new mums off

The worst bit is - apparently she is thinking of starting again with her 10 year old who has asked to be breastfed for her birthday!
