My question isn't about the rights or wrongs of this, my question is what sort of social care can amount to almost £4.5m a year?

I wish the report stated for how long that amount was spent on that child.

I am struggling to come up with ways that amount could be spent

I just can't see how that can be the case, even the new figure of £30000 a week seems ridiculous.

So what was it actually spent on?  The child needs seven dedicated carers but even if they were each paid, say, £1,000 a week, I'd still struggle to spend the other £78,000.  I'd like to see a proper breakdown of the costs.

You could hire a one on one professional freelance carers for 24 hours a day and put them up in the Ritz and it wouldn't cost that much. Something's not right here.

Probably fingers in the till.

Councils and their mates are a real problem, just look at the taxi's in Brum.

Did it include building a purpose built home with every adaptation, gizmo and gadget needed to enable him to live at home?  Daily physio, specialist treatment?

It says "placement" in the report which suggests residential care somewhere. It might be that the child needs 2 to one care 24x7, that soon racks up the care costs as well as the living/housing  expenses

See also residential care for the elderly.

Licence to print money with poor oversight.

Both doubtless trumpeted as saving hard-pressed taxpayers oodles of wonga by lying officials.

How much do you spend on one child? What is the limit? No doubt some would say every life is priceless but I don't believe that, in the real world there has to be a limit, there is no bottomless pit of money.

"The child in question needs seven dedicated members of staff for their care..."

OK, so lets assume it costs £100,000 pa to employe each of those (yes, I know, far too much, but indulge me for a minute). That's £700,000 a year - £14,000 a week. So where does the remaining £71k go each week?

^That's pretty much what I said earlier, NJ.

Sorry naomi. Not paying attention. (I did give them a rise, though!  😀)

Given that you've costed the "time", everything else must be "materials" ...
