Can any one help me. 24 Months ago i damaged my lower back (coyxics) , this was due to giving birth to my daughter and have nerve damage there. This was getting better untill 10 weeks ago when I had an accident at work and damaged my SI joint. Now I am constantly in pain. I cant walk very far and I cant sit down for very long. Also I have trouble sleeping. Currently I am on the sick from work. Can anyone advise me if I could be classed as disabled and how I would go about it. I am 37 years of age. Thank you.

Hiya Sc, I don't know the answer apart from asking your Doc. But maybe if you go on B&S or P&P you may get a few more answers

Good Luck

I think you need to talk to your doctor too. There must be a point when your sick pay will run out, and then you will need to apply for benefit. But you should find out now how much you are entitled to just incase it is not enough to live, on etc.Your doc will be able to tell you when someone can be classed as disabled. You have to apply for disability living allowance, and it is VERY strict. For example, if you can pick up a piece of paper from the floor, wash yourself and cook for yourself, then you almost certainly won't be able to ge it- but do find out.

I have had really serious back problems for years and I currently get Access to Work benefit. Basically, if you can't walk from the bus stop to your place of work, which I can't, then they will pay for your taxi (minus the bus fare). That means I can keep working, and paying the mortgage etc even though I can;t walk at the moment.

Was the accident at work anything you can get compensation for?

start taking b12 the strongest ones you can get ..available at hollandand barratt health shop..also take b complex tablets..and a good multi vitamin..it takes ages for nerve endings to repair 18 to 24 months as i had nerve damage to back and foot and they are much improved but if i overdo it then they still ache a bit..also try valerian and st john wort as these will relax your nervous system and should ease it..try these things and you should see improvement within 3 weeks..dont take st john wort if you are on anti deppressants or pain killers as they are not compatible..
