Just got back from a wonderful cruise, but cruising does attract some weird people!

I was in a lift with about ten people, crowded, but not rammed, and a Sikh lady must have trodden on the foot of a male passenger.

He shouted "Owwwwwwww!!!!" at the top of his voice, I mean really yelled it, and the poor woman was in equal parts terrified and embarrassed, you know how diffident Asian ladies can be.

Then he burst into loud laughter and shouted in her face "I bet you're awake now!!" which clearly confused the poor woman, as she obviously didn't understand his 'humour'.

We rode for eight decks in tense silence, and when the lift stopped, he shouted in her face "You'll be glad to know I'm getting off here!!" and he ambled down the corridor, laughing loudly at his own wonderful wit.

Why do people have to behave like this?

And why do cruise ships attract them?

Because they are prats - one of the reasons I'd never go on a cruise.
Was it a Caribbean cruise Andy, my friend is a singer and he’s just returned , his stage name is Paul Palance
Sounds like you had a blast.

It was Bobbi, your friend was not on when I was, though.

We had a fantastic time Roy, the occasional, and it I'd occasional, odd behaviour, is no barrier to a great holiday, even though I work for eight days out of fourteen.
Was the man drunk?
I think I’d have shoved him if was laughing in my face, bad mannered cretin !
Maybe it’s the drinks package
well I was called a "white prock" - so surprised I asked her to repeat it and so she did
British Rail brum didnt give a stuff. ( pun intended)

and MY cruise has just be cancelled - Nile Egypt
ship wont go and they are giving me my money back
Cruising is much different now than when we went cruising and it was basically for the upper middle class, who behaved well, dressed for dinner and I never saw any bad manners or indeed violence.

Different story today many cruise ships have been built for the hoypaloy, walkind into the dining room inappropriately dressed and lacked basic manners and courtesy.

Get what you pay for.......even today one can choice cruise lines which still maintain the traditions of old.
True. Sqad .
Butlins-on-Sea.
I went on a cruise years ago and I would never go on one ever again. I couldn't get over the greed of the guests. Two couples sat beside me at dinner and after eating and eating - they went up to fill their plates again - the food was hanging off so much - it had been fruit - the apples were rolling around the table.

Never fancied a cruise , don’t want to feel regimented on a holiday , you get off here and have to be back by? Nope not for me
Cruising is the most relaxing and less regimented holiday one can have.
Depends what one wants from one's holiday.

Again....carefully pick one's Cruise Line.
I want freedom and relaxing from my holiday Sqad
that's what it is Bobbs - a floating Hotel - not for me either.

We had a terrible time the first time as the ship was sailing from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean sea and the waves were gigantic and vomit bags were placed everywhere.

I kept screaming to my friend - "This is the Titanic, Ah Jesus", we're going, going going. I said to my friend "Goodbye my love" - it was really scary - next day I saw people leaving the ship.
Was the man American, Andy? They can be a bit OTT.
I’d much rather relax and not feel I needed to ‘be on show’ each evening for dinner, we go out for special meals , then sometimes we eat in ( SC)
Couldn't think of anything worse than a cruise but I always fancied sailing across the Atlantic so I did that last week on the QM2. I don't think of it as a cruise though - it was a passage. Seven nights was enough though and I would have been just as happy on a cargo ship.
