7am news on BBC Radio today…top story: Serena Williams knocked out of the US Open. With all that’s going on in the World, how can the BBC prioritise this? Also this is the news in Britain and she’s American, the tournament is taking place in the USA, it’s not even at an important stage…. Andy Murray, Britain’s best ever, also just lost and may also soon retire, but somehow didn’t merit a mention. How is the BBC making dumb decisions like this?

by hiring dumb employees I guess!
The bbc used to be the pride of Britain, now it is a propaganda mouthpiece of the establishment, there are lots of very big news stores happening right now but you will never hear about it from the media in this country who are bought and paid for, they rely on people to trust them and never question the narrative.
//now it is a propaganda mouthpiece of the establishment, //

I think that is highly debateable! (if you mean the establishment is the government - of whatever colour)
now it is a propaganda mouthpiece of the establishment

and that's why they told you about Serena? What do you plan to do with the information about her retirement now you've been brainwashed?
Quite right, Mrs C.
Most ABers seem to believe 'the latest thing' whatever it might be.
If nothing needs pushing they have to fill the screen/your heads with something. Anything, jno (except verboten news)
Change stations, then. Simples:-/
I agree with Ken...if it's not to your liking, there are plenty of other news sources these days.
It's not the 1950s.
any channel with Piers Morgan on it must be reliable.
On the other hand, any channel with Piers Morgan on it must be unwatchable.

Personal taste.
Righto, ken. If you and ginge would like to send me your newsagent's bills, I'll pay them for you as well.
Who is Serena Williams anyway?
Hardly anyone famous ...

Andy Murray lost his match the previous day, so it was hardly "news" any more. Serena Williams' defeat had come barely 3 hours before the 7 am news and I daresay quite a few people were waking up and wouldn't have followed it through the small hours.
So that would have been the thinking.
Newsagents?
Like I said, it's not the 1950s.
...plus it was her farewell match, which was the "news" really, not that she had been knocked out as such.
Spicey, you must have missed my post earlier this year where i said i had ceased buying all newspapers - save for Saturday's Mirror (too many meetings to sort through just on line), saving myself over £400.
Perhaps MrsCheese could tell us which big news stories are not being covered?
Though, come to think of it, if your offer is genuine, i can easily re-order the Mirror and Express on a daily basis and the Sunday Express at weekend?
Just making a point. If it's too complicated for you, no worries. See you later, bye.
By the way, just because my comment was just below yours doesn't mean it was aimed at you. It was, in actual fact, aimed at the OP. Bye.
//ceased buying all newspapers//

I've cut back too - I know they have increased costs but sticking the price up 10p almost every week is taking the pee. They are driving us to on line only.
